Statement:

The major flaw in Romeo and Juliet is the time period of the play. If this situation was in a
different time things would have been very different.

Proof:
Romeo and Juliet was set in the 1300’s so the time period was very different than we are used
to. If Romeo did what he did in our time we would be put in prison for life.

Explanation:
When Romeo killed Tybalt, he thought he was going to be killed, but then he was only exiled.
Romeo had a better chance to have a life with Juliet in their time rather than ours. When Juliet
came of age she could’ve moved to Mantua to be with him.

Synthesis:
Because of the time, people did things very differently. They could get married at 13, could be
exiled by a prince, or by lethal drugs at 16.
