Manual of Auxiliary Service Tool

1
Who Should Read This Manual
This manual is designed to provide basic instructions of sample data export or database
backup for service engineers. This auxiliary service tool shall be run together with the IPU
software.

Conventions Used in This Manual

The table below explains the symbols used in this manual.

When you see… Description

Read the statement following the symbol. The
NOTE statement is alerting you to information that
requires your attention.

Running the Tool
1. Starting up: double click "ServiceTools.exe" (shown in the figure below) to start up the
program.

Note: Make sure IPU V1.10 or higher is installed before running

the tool. See the figure below for the functions that different versions
could provide.

2. Click the "Start" menu of the operating system, and then select "Auto Hematology
Analyzer"  "Auxiliary Service Tool".
If the current IPU software is not V1.19, and then copy all files in
the directory to the root directory of the service tool (include

3
“service tool” file name).
3. Start up the analyzer, and make sure the IPU is properly connected to the analyzer.
4. Enter the service username and password to log on at the service access level.

5. Use the functions provided by the tool: Export, Database Backup and Restoration, and
Configuration IP.
i. Export: If the version is lower than 1.19, the service engineers have to collect data
from the user end and export them from each screen. The data may be incomplete and
needed to be exported again at the user end, however, by using this tool, the service
engineers can export all the data (except sample data which can be exported by the
database backup function of this tool) at one time.

4
The following information exported is encrypted and could only be viewed by this tool.

Special Info:inf files and wv files;

Analyzer Information: Version Information, all IPU logs, analyzer configuration parameters
(gain and calibration), algorithm parameters and calibration history;
Software Debug Information: IPU setup parameters, IPU crash DUMP, IPU installation log,
analyzer update log, database log, operating system information, operating system-events
viewer content;
Closed Reagent Information: counter and summary;
All the exported data is saved in a folder named by the Analyzer SN by default.

ii. Database Backup and Restoration: Before the service engineers format the hard disk
and reinstall the system, backup the database to other medium (such as USB flash
drive, removable hard disk, notebook, etc.) with this tool, and then restore the database
after reinstalling the system and IPU. The service engineers can also feedback the
backup database to the R&D department of the headquarter.
Note: Database Backup and Restoration can only be executed in
the current version, and restoring database of other version is not
allowed since the database structures between versions are
different, e.g. database backed up in 1.0 version can not be
restored in the 1.11 version. Procedures to restore data of other
versions:

5
Backup the database:
A) Select the directory to backup the data:
B) Performing backup;

C) After the data is backed up successfully, a note will pop up to inform the backup is
finished.

6
D) The system will copy the database file to the directory and generate a folder, the
folder will be named as “date_time“ (of backup) by default, and the following three
files are saved in this folder: dat folder, .ldf and .mdf database file..

Restore the database:

A) Browse to folder generated by default as the path of database backup.

B) Restore the database;

C) After the data is restored successfully, a note will pop up to inform the restoration is
finished.

7
iii. Configuration IP: If the service engineers revise the analyzer IP at the user end and
forget the IP address after the hard disk is formatted and the system is reinstalled,
which will result in the disconnection of the analyzer and the IPU, this tool can be used
to detect the IP address of the analyzer, the detected IP address will be put in the IPU
Configuration.
Note1: Make sure IPU V1.9 or higher before running the tool.
Note2: If the analyzer and the PC are connected directly, it is unable
to obtain the IP address automatically (could be configured in the
TCP/IP property). The IP address shall be set to 10.0.0.1, otherwise
the IP address of the analyzer will not be detected and the IPU can
not communicate with the analyzer properly.

A) Start up the Auxiliary Service Tool and select "Configuration IP”

B) Click "Test" to detect the IP address of the analyzer,

C) Start up the analyzer and connect the PC and the analyzer properly;
D) The system will detect the IP address of the analyzer automatically and display it on
the screen.
E) If the IP address is not detected, a note of "Test failed" will pop up. Switch off the

8
analyzer and then test again.
