(Opening jingle)

Everyone: Welcome back to AUC Tea-Talks with your hosts

Rahma: Rahma,

Sohaila: Sohaila,

Yasmin: Yasmin,

Zeina: and Zeina.

< Sague >

Zeina: Hi girls and hello listeners! How are you?

Yasmin: We are great! And how are you listeners?

Rahma: Hoping you’re having a bright day ahead. Are you ready for today’s episode?

Sohaila: We hope everyone is because today’s episode will focus on an important sector that’s
starting to flourish, the business sector.

Yasmin: Yes indeed, despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, some members of
the community have started or are starting their own businesses.

Rahma: In today’s episode, we’ll look further into this sector by featuring two founders of new
businesses who’ll tell us more about their experiences.

Zeina: Oh and Yasmin! I remember you told me about owning an online sunglasses business.
Tell us more about that!
Yasmin: Yes! It’s an Instagram-based business called Inyourshades. My partner and I
established it right in the middle of the lockdown.

Rahma: And that’s the smart use of quarantine..

Sohaila: I mean… I spent quarantine on Netflix so that still counts as smart… right?

Yasmin: hahaha of course Sohaila, we all needed a break. However, I’ve always wanted to take
such a step and start my own business. Thank you guys, So, before we get into the story behind
InYourShades, let's reveal our guests who also used their free time in quarantine for a good use.

Explain what’s to come:

Zeina: They definitely did. Today's guests are two out of four people who also started their own
little online business during quarantine.

Sohaila: are you ready to know who our guests are?

< Soundbite drum roll >

Rahma: Yehia and Ahmed Booka… two of the four co-founders of Tribe on Instagram.

< Soundbite of cheering >

Yasmin: We all know the struggles of being a working student but imagine being an engineering
working student. And not only one of them but they BOTH are.

Sohaila: WOW

Zeina : Oh God, I would die! Anyways, they are both fellow AUC students who have managed
to divide their time between studying, surviving the overwhelming burden of being an
engineering student, and creating their own clothing line.

Sohaila: Wow, that must have been tough. I mean we as JRMC students are literally dying.

Zeina: Exactly, Imagine if I were an SSE student, just IMAGINE the twitter rants. I would fulfill
my dream of being twitter famous.

Rahma: Hahaha Yeah I would have personally blocked you.

Zeina: Thanks man..

Rahma: But yeah, They first started making unisex hoodies and sweatpants and then now for
their new summer collection they just dropped oversized t-shirts and way more to come.

Topic 1: Managing Time

Yasmin: So let us know more from our guests about how they manage their time. Starting by
Booka.

Booka: *response*

Sohaila: I get how complicated it can get… How about you Yehia?

Yehia: *response*

Rahma: seven courses, that must be tough. Did you guys know that the average person gets one
interruption every eight minutes, or approximately seven an hour, or 50-60 per day. But, in my
case it's 70 per minute. Can’t imagine that myself as I’m taking only three courses.

Zeina: I mean… seven courses? I’m taking five and I'm genuinely considering dropping out.

Sohaila: hahah same!

Zeina: Fun fact…

Rahma: Did you know that According to the American Association of University Professors,
The US Department of Education reported that, in 2017, 43 percent of all full-time
undergraduate students and 81 percent of part-time students were employed while enrolled.

Topic 2: Dealing with Covid in their Business

Yasmin: So I am sure starting a business during the craziest time of the year was difficult, tell us
more about that you guys.

Booka: *response*

Yehia: *continuing response*

Zeina: Another fact, according to a research that was done in Egypt during the Pandemic, small
businesses agreed that the government’s decision regarding partial shutdown of industrial and
commercial enterprises, did not benefit them but maybe benefitted only big businesses which i
could imagine have also hindered your process .

Sohaila: But it all paid off at the end. Thank you guys for joining us today. It was a pleasure
having you.

Topic 3: InYourShades business

Zeina: We know we’ve kept you waiting for too long, yasmin! Tell us more about
InYourShades!

Yasmin: My partner and I were talking during quarantine and he was pointing out my obsession
with sunglasses. And then we started imagining how we can make our dream of being business
partners come into existence and what was by selling sunglasses! Even though it started out as a
joke, it was a great idea. So we started discussing the marketing strategy, supply and demand,
and basically how we’d run it. And that's how it all started.

Rahma: But what about Covid-19, Did you have trouble starting the business with the pandemic
scaring you and customers away?

Yasmin: Aaah… It was definitely hard, we were always careful with sanitizing the products
before packing them and then sanitizing the packaging, but it was a well-deserved hassle.

Sohaila: So, Yasmin, tell us what was your biggest accomplishment through your journey with
InYourShades?

Yasmin: ou… I can proudly say that famous celebrities like Ahmed Zaher, Laila Zaher and Alya
Assaf bought from us, and yes they actually bought it, it wasn’t a paid ad.
Zeina: So are we going to get any free shades any time soon *wink wink*? for our audience
who can’t see us right now i'm winking at yasmin hahahahah

Yasmin: hahaha follow us at @inyourshades on instagram and we will see about that.

Rahma: Shameless plug!.

Sohaila: Alright, so everyone go follow @Tribe and @InyourShades on Instagram to support

our fellow AUCians’ businesses.

1- We were thinking about featuring the new Egyptian national civilization museum, where we would go there and film a tour focusing
on the significant eras (like featuring the mummies that were transferred in the previous royal parade).

2- We would go visit ancient touristic areas such as el hussein, downtown, korba, roxi… etc. and talk more about the history of each
place. We would film each place with its history (similar to the documentary presented during the parade)

3- We would go to Mogamaa Al-Adyan in Old Cairo exploring different spiritualities and their architectural significance in the same
area. We would film snippets from each place and in the feature we would discuss the significance of these places to their religion with
their history and how important unity is in egypt.
