2. Because the supervisor program controls the entire operating system and loads into
memory other operating system programs (called non-resident) form disk storage only as
needed
3. The resident program remains in memory and is thus referred to as resident however the
non-resident program is loaded into memory form disk storage only as needed.
4. The main functions of an operating system are:
a. Manage the computer´s resources, such as the central processing unit, memory, disk
drives and printers
b. Establish a user interface
c. Execute and provide services for applications software
