• COMESA Regional investment Agency is the
investment arm of the Common Market for
Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
• COMESA RIA was established in 2006 and
now it acts as the gateway to investment
opportunities in all sectors within COMESA
Member States.

Data & Information
• Identify viable investment opportunities in
close collaboration with Member States’ NIPAs.
• Develop a database of pertinent information.
• Research & analysis substantial contribution to
the work on FDI in Africa and Internationally.
Image building
• Position the COMESA Region as an
investment destination of choice.
• Highlight Member States’ progress and
achievements on investment, business-
friendliness and global rankings.
Networking
• Target and approach potential investors,
generate their interest and increase their
awareness about the region.
• Establish public-private sector dialogue.
• Serve as a channel for investor input to
decision makers at national and regional
level.
Capacity building
• Capacity building activities varies across
different stages of investment promotion
cycle.
• Preparing the Information technology
infrastructure for member NIPAs such as
investor tracking  system and websites.
• Apply best practices in investment
promotion, facilitation and retention
through intra-agency collaboration and
sharing of successful experiences.
Outreach and promotion
• Development of promotional materials
for investors: investment guides, country
profiles, websites, condensed promotional
brochures, annual reports.
• Dissemination of these materials through
targeted and non-targeted marketing
activities (promotional events, exhibitions,
e-marketing campaigns, public relations).
• Engaging regional and international
media.
