LIST OF TABLES
(Normally, table of contents, list of figures, and list of tables must be in separate pages. But
you can give them in one page in order to save paper).
iv
1. INTRODUCTION
In the introduction part, you should give some information about the concepts related
with the experiment or search topic. Also, if you are writing an experiment report, you
should mention the purpose of the experiment in this section.
The paper to be used is standard A4. The document must have margins 3 cm from top,
3 cm from left, 2.5 cm from right and 2.5 cm from bottom. These margins must be kept in
each page of the report. Headings, text, tables, illustrations, etc., must all be contained
completely within the area bounded by the margins. The whole text should be left and right
justified.
1.2 Fonts
The font is Times New Roman. The font sizes for different elements of the report must
follow the rules given below:
1
1.3 Spacing
Standard 1.5 spacing must be used throughout the text. Single spacing is allowed in
certain limited cases; table of contents, block quotations, headings, table titles, figure
captions, tables, and appendices. It is also permitted within the items in the list of tables,
list of figures, bibliography/reference list, and notes, but 1.5 spacing must be used in
between them.
1.4 Centering
All materials must be centered between the text margins rather than between the paper
edges. After the manuscript is bound, the centered material will appear to be centered on
the page. Paragraphs must be indented by tab of 1.27 cm. and there must be no spaces
between two paragraphs.
The tables and figures should be numbered Table 1, 2, 3 etc. followed by a colon and
the title and end with a period. Table heading should be above the table, and figure heading
should be below the table. Besides, there must be a reference for each table (Table 1) and
figure (Figure 1) in the main manuscript body.
2
Figure 1. An example figure.
If you use any information from any source, you should cite it and give its reference in
the section named as “references.” Also, if you get any figure or table from any source,
you should give its reference. You can use any proper citation format within the text, e.g.
APA, ACS, IEEE, etc. For example, water boils at 99.97 oC at 101.325 kPa [1].
Please insert page numbers in the paper. For the preliminary pages, use small Roman
numerals (i, ii, iii, iv, etc.). Preliminary pages include Title Page, Table of Contents, List of
Figures/Schematics, and List of Tables. However, do not print the roman numerals on the
Title Page. Use Arabic numerals beginning with "1" on the first page of the text and
continue throughout the rest of the report, including bibliography and appendices.

2. THEORY
Give the theory behind the experiment in details according to the lab handout. Also,
you should number the equations. If you have a research assignment, you may not need
this section.
3. EXPERIMENTAL SETUP
Explain the materials that are used in the experiment. If possible, insert a figure. If you
have a research assignment, you may not need this section.
4. PROCEDURE
Explain the procedure in details. If you have a research assignment, you may not need
this section.
In this part, show the results. If necessary, give the results in a table. Do not show the
calculations in this part, show the calculations in the appendix. Furthermore, you must
discuss the results in this part. If you have a research assignment, you may not need this
section.

6. CONCLUSION

REFERENCES
Normally, references should be included in a separate page. But, you can include the
references after the conclusion in order to save paper. An example for a reference,

6
APPENDIX
You should give the calculations in the appendix. Normally, appendix should be included
in a separate page. But, you can include the appendix after the references in order to save
paper.
