To Whom It May Concern:

This is a letter of recommendation for Tyler Fenton. Mr. Fenton serves as a teacher at Los Alamitos High
School and so much more. His teaching assignment includes Physical Education, ASB, and Skills Lab.
Given our current school year, Tyler taught the Physical Education courses virtually while the ASB and Skills
Lab were in person. In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Fenton also is the co-advisor for the Student
Leadership class, the Varsity Football Offensive Coordinator, the Freshman Connection Advisor, and the
Class Council Advisor for the sophomore and junior classes. Yes, Tyler is an integral member of our staff
and his positive impact permeates the campus.

As a Physical Education teacher, Mr. Fenton was tasked with providing a quality instructional program
virtually in a course that is activity-based and works best in a face-to-face model. Tyler rose to the occasion
and did just that. His daily lessons for his students were content based, provided students with the rigor of a
regular Physical Education course, and held students accountable for participation and engagement. Not only
did his students meet the teacher’s high expectations, they exceeded them.

A couple of years ago, we made a conscious decision to expand the number of students and the diversity of
students in our ASB program. This brought the class size to nearly sixty students. In order to do this and
maintain effectiveness in getting students involved, we added a second staff member to co-teach the class.
Mr. Fenton was an easy choice given his connection to students. We have operated under this co-teaching
model for a few years now and we have seen a tremendous increase in this body truly representing our student
population as a whole. It has been a healthy change that had some growing pains. However, it is thriving
now. Adding Mr. Fenton was a key ingredient to this success.

We have a program called Skills Lab. This program offers some of our most academically struggling students
an opportunity for intensive remediation and course recovery. Mr. Fenton oversees this program two periods
each day. He is as much of a motivator as he is a teacher in this learning environment.

Tyler also serves as the Varsity Football Offensive Coordinator. Again, his connection to kids allows his
talents and abilities to shine. He is a young coach who has the respect of all the players. He is friendly with
them, but he is not their friend. He understands the player/coach relationship. His football mind is always at
work. He is visionary in terms of always looking for new drills, schemes, and offensive sets. I have no doubt
he will be a fine head football coach someday.

I have shared with you the skills, talents, and value Tyler Fenton brings to the Los Alamitos High School
campus. Yet, that is not what makes this young man special. His character is unquestioned and his integrity
unmatched. He is a quality individual who any parent would be excited to have as a teacher or coach for their
student. It would be our hope to keep him as a member of our faculty. However, due to enrollment and
staffing projections, we may not have a spot for him next year. It saddens me that he may not be with us.
However, wherever he teachers, he will make an impact.

Over the course of over forty years in public education, much of it in administration, I have observed many
young teachers as they started their career journey in public education. Tyler Fenton may be the finest one I
have had the pleasure of working with. If we can keep Mr. Fenton as a Griffin, we certainly will. However, I
also want to promote him and his career wherever it may be. I recommend him for your consideration as a
teacher in your district. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,

Gregg Stone, Ed.D.
