Question 01. According to Martin Seligman, “People who give up easily in the face of adversity believe
the causes of bad events that happened to them are permanent, meaning the underlying contributors will
last a long time. In contrast, people who persist under adverse conditions believe the causes of bad events
are temporary.” Keeping in mind the above connection differentiate the thinking pattern of optimistic and
pessimistic person (10 Marks)
Answer: Optimism is the mental attitude in which an individual think in a positive manner he just not
only ignores the life stressors but he tries to get rid of from the hardships by using his positive thinking in
a productive way that gets benefits in his life.
From the above situation we all know that optimist person's focus on the opportunities in any difficult
situation while on the other hand the pessimist individual only focuses on the difficulty in every
opportunity.
Thinking patterns of both individuals are different because of their perception level of happiness that how
they cope with current situation.
Optimistic person can use his capabilities to cope up with the situation they think in a positive way so that
he gets rid of from current situation he faces while pessimistic individual worried about the difficulty he
faces as given above they consider the bad events happened to them permanently and always think
negative. Instead how to cope with the bad events that happened to them.
Question 02. In the face of current issues and challenges what strategy would you recommend to enhance
happiness/Joy in Pakistani population? (10 Marks)
The current challenges that people in Pakistan are facing those effects their mental and emotional health
including the current pandemic situation since 2020. We see many people are suffering from this
pandemic all over the world and in recent time our country also faces the drastic effect of this is pandemic
in our beloved Pakistan.
Our families, friends and neighborhood also affected by this pandemic. People lost there love ones and
they must stay home because of this disease no hand shake , meetup everything stops.
There is need of some strategies that are followed by individual is that they need to be think in a positive
way, instead of being depressed in this pandemic as it mainly affect our mental and emotional health . We
need to understand that due to its fear many people face drastic effects.
They need to meditate themselves, use some exercise that's give some relaxation to their mind and body as
well. Do such kind of activities that help them or they like. For example walk, exercise , focus on problem
solving, family time etc.

Question 03. Describe the relationship between emotional health and positive psychology? (2.5 Marks)
Positive psychology is the scientific approach towards human’s emotions and behaviors it also focuses on
strengths to cope up with hardships.
Positive psychology methods have been found in studies to last longer and provide more happiness than
standard psychotherapies.
While emotional health is also relating with subjective wellbeing that refers to how people experience
their quality of lives include both emotional reaction and cognitive judgments it can be use as happiness
synonyms. It includes the pleasant and unpleasant emotions. Both are interlinked as both are workings
towards the life satisfaction instead of focusing on difficulties.
Question 04. Describe “the good life”. (2.5 Marks)
Good life:
Living a good life means that is full of means, values and standards. In which an individual enjoys his life
fully with joy and happiness. We can say that life full of satisfaction in which a person follows his agency
(will power) and pathway in attainment of his goals of life.
The good life gives him hope and satisfaction towards achieving his smart goals. Good life means he can
easily cope up with the challenges he faces in his life with optimistic thoughts.
