Movie report “Llámame por tu nombre”

Three weeks ago, I saw “Llámame por tu nombre” is a 2017 coming-of-age romantic

drama film directed by Luca Guadagnino, an Italian filmmaker. The story is about the romantic
relationship between a 17-year-old, Elio Perlman and Oliver a 24-year-old.
The center was in the summer of 1983. Elio, a Jewish Italian, lives with his parents in
rural Northern Italy. Elio's father, a professor of archaeology, invites a 24-year-old graduate
student, Oliver, who is also Jewish, to live with the family over the summer and help with his
academic paperwork. Elio and Oliver spend more time together, going for long walks into town,
and accompanying Elio's father on an archaeological trip.  The problem is that as the end of
Oliver's stay approaches, he and Elio both find themselves overcome by uncertainty and
longing. Elio's parents, recommend he and Oliver visit Bergamo together before Oliver returns
home to the U.S. Then they spend three romantic days together. Oliver calls Elio's family to tell
them he is engaged to be married. After the call, Elio sits down by the fireplace and stares into
the flames, tearfully reminiscing.
There are many caracters in the movie but the one that fascinates me is Mr. Perlman because
he was a father who did not point to his son, but rather advises Elio to learn from his grief and
grow, instead of just moving on too quickly. I recommend the movie to people who like
romance movies and are open-minded. In my opinion it is a very good movie, since although it
can make you sad, it also tells you that the good times should not be forgotten.
