THE AGE OF ADALINE

A movie follows the journey of a young beautiful woman who magically

stops aging by the lighting in a strange accident in 1937. Adaline Bowman has
lived through about 8 decades in her prime of youth in the age of 29 years old. She
has to relocate to numerous nations in order to maintain her identity as someone
who never changes as time passes. However, when she meets a handsome
philanthropist named Ellis, her heart once again was immersed in her stream of
love. Unfortunately, his father is the first love of Adaline and he is easily able to
identify her thanks to the scar on her left hand. When a weekend with his parents
threatens to uncover the truth, she can not suffer this pressure anymore, so she
wants to escape this house and a magical accident happens again. In the hospital,
Adaline makes a decision that will change her life forever. She wants to be with
Ellis and doesn’t matter what future is. Finally, one year later, Ellis and Adaline
are going to a New Year Eve party but before leaving, Adaline checks the mirror
and realizes that she plucks a gray hair, a sign of aging.
Life lessons:
The movie will make us realize that how valuable time is and we should appreciate
every single minute with our lovers such as members of family or lovers. This is
due to the fact that as time goes on, people get older and things change, so we
should cherish our shared memories. Sometimes, time is nothing without love, so
just love someone body and soul.
The character I like most:
I love Ellis’s father most. He finally discovers the mystery why his first love left
him in the past and he also wants Adaline and his son having a happy ending. The
father always remembers every beautiful memory with his first love in the past. It
means that although time goes by but memories will exist forever. He asks his son
some questions: “Do you love her? …. How do you love?” I like these questions
most because it doesn’t a normal question but it shows how much you love
someone by your whole heart. He also understands that his son can not live without
Adaline.
New words or phrases in the movie:
Discoloration: the quality of the color in photos reduces
Acres and acres of woods: a unit to measure how big of the forest
Parents beach cottage where 5 year old Fleming was waiting up for her: a small
house
The immersion in the frigid water: really cold
First, the charge defibrillated Adaline’s heart: recover her actual heartbeat.
Took a clerical job: officer
But I don’t want to come across like a know-it-all: a clever person and know
everything
