Film-to-see with families for Tet : Coco – Nothing is more important

than the family.

Tet is the perfect time for enjoying lives, brightness, happiness and watching comedies with
families,so why should Coco,a cartoon with death, gloom and skeletons be included in your list?

Coco brings you to the land of Mexico, the city in which celebrates one of the most unique
festivals in the world, “Día de los Muertos”-or“The day of the Death” , also the background of
the film. Miguel, the main character, a boy born with a music obsession in his blood, went on a
journey of his lifetime to the Underworld to find his thought-to-be grandpa to receive his
blessing to come back home. That’s where the story of families begins.

Watching a gloomy movie for Tet is maybe not a good choice to you but trust me , you will be
surprised by the harmony between “Día de los Muertos” and Tet holiday. Mexican celebrates
the day of Death to show the remembrance to their ancestors , at that night they create a path
made with marigold from the door to the altar and put their ancestor’s picture onto the altar to
let their ancestor follow the way to come and celebrate the festival with their children. That’s
also the purpose of Tet holiday, not only for the living but also for our beloved passed away.
That’s how the tradition of a family keep continuing by remembering, by telling stories to our
children and grandchilden.

The film shows how family would guide you, through and through. Miguel hates the truth that
he was born “the only family in Mexico hate music” and he saw his love for music is way greater
than the appearance of family. But he was wrong when he see his grandma Imelda found the
way to be bring him back to reconcile with family, see his grandpa Hector try everything to
cross the bridge just to see Coco- his daughter one last time,to tell her that he loves her, to sing
for her the song that he wrote:

“Remember me
Though I have to say goodbye
Remember me
Don't let it make you cry
For ever if I'm far away
I hold you in my heart…. ”

I truly appreciate how Pixar conveys their purpose through the melody. The soundtrack melt
your heart right from the start. It’s not a song of the greatest musician to show for the world,
it’s simply a lullaby for his daughter to soothe her, to tell his nostalgia when he have to travel to
seize his dream. That moment Miguel sings for Mama Coco “ Remember me” makes me cry a
lot, because I see the current world when parents have to go away to make a living and their
children sometimes do not understand parents’s sufferings and they blame on parents for their
lack of love. But you know , the strong bond between families is something we can not fully
understand, it will not disappear, it will be passed, be recognized from parents to children, from
genarations to genarations. Somedays you will understand that parents always miss you no
matter where they are

Coco also shows you the right way to “seize your moment”. If you want to succeed, you have to
fight for it. The whole world follows the rule, but you have to follow your heart. But do not try
to go too far, like De la Cruz, the one who want to succeed so bad that he does whatever it
takes , even abandon his best friend and family .Once again, the value of family is augmented. “
Family comes first”, like grandma Imelda said, do not forget who you are and where you come
from.Your flesh and blood are the only one who always stay by your side and support your
dreams.

Some people say Coco is too terrifying for their children to watch, but do not let that scary
things hold you back . Give it a try , call your mama and papa to sit with you with a lot of
tissues, you wil not be disappointed.

YOUR MOMENT”
