Coco

Coco is a beautiful cinematographic work that immerses us in the Mexican

tradition of the Day of the Dead. The movie Coco shows a part of our culture,
about how music has a great connection to who we are and belongs to us. In
this case, the mariachi genre is mentioned more than anything. But a
characteristic of Mexicans that is deeply rooted in us is also mentioned, which
is the love between family.
For me, what impacted me most about the film was the love and support that
exists between the family members, although they do not know each other and
only the dead can coexist with the living, seeing them for one day of the year,
this does not prevent them from love and support them.
What also impacted me the most and made me cry a lot was the scene where
Mama Coco and Mama Coco’s father (Héctor) sing “remember me” together,
because you could see Héctor’s eyes of love when he saw his daughter and
he trys to see his daughter even once more, without a doubt a great
representation of paternal love, which is infinite and unconditional.
Héctor's murder was definitely what I felt most sadness for, because he
couldn’t tell his daughter how much he loved her and that he tried to come
back for her, the film teaches us about the evil of a character who betrays his
own best friend and takes advantage of fame and success at the expense of
others.Coco teaches us the importance of honesty and loyalty towards our
loved ones, as well as the negative consequences that can arise when we
allow ourselves to be carried away by ambition and selfishness.
In Coco, strong themes were also touched on, such as the abandonment that
Miguel's great-great-grandmother and her daughter had to go through, with
them moving forward, and Imelda's mother representing the strength to
protect and move her family forward, even with all the difficulties, definitely a
mother to admire and I am sure that many of us know mothers like that. Their
love and sacrifice are a powerful reminder of the importance of valuing and
protecting our loved ones.
In short, Coco is a film that teaches us about the importance of celebrating the
Day of the Dead, the strength and support of family, the evil that can exist in
the world and how love and protection can overcome any obstacle. It is an
exciting and moving story that invites us to reflect on our own lives and the
importance of keeping traditions and family ties alive.
