#VI fz-om the novel the 11TUrner Diaries."
10
The purpose of this communication is to draw attention
11 to specific aspects of the novel entitled the "TUrner Diaries" by
ANDREW MCDONALD, true name WILLIAM L. PIERCE, who is active within
12 the White Supremacy Movement. This novel was published in May,
1978. FBIHQ is specifically reminded that the "Turner Diaries" is
13 considered•a significant work and foundation document closely
embraced by the leadership as well as rank and file members of the
14 Right-wing, White Supremist Movement, also known as the "Christian
Identity Movement." The significance of this novel at this
15 particular time, is the projected date(s) of key "actions" taken
by fictional members of a White Supremist group in the book, said
16 group ultimately calling itself, "The Order."
17 On September 16, 1991, the fictional initiation of a
white revolution begins. The book begins in Chapter One with the

"September 16, 1991. Tcx.iay it finally began. After

all these years of talking - and nothing but talking -
we have finally taken our first action. We are at war
with the system (U.S. Government), and it is no longer
a war of words.
This chapter goes on to describe a series of outright
violence initiated by the White Supremist Movement against the
u.s. Government in general and the Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI) specifically.
In a subsequent chapter following a continuing series
of escalating acts of violence, the "Turner Diaries" specifically
describes a carefully orchestrated act of terrorism targeting FBI
Headquarters, in Washington, o.c. Chapter VI begins with this
account:
"October. 13, 1991. At 9:15 (am) yesterday (10/12/91)
morning our bomb went off in the FBI's national
headquarters building. our worries about the
relatively small size of the bomb were unfounded;
the damage is i.nnnense."
The chapter (xeroxed in its entirety and enclosed for
reference) continues to describe in some detail the manufacturing/
assembly of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED} utilizing a
combination of heating oil mixed with ammonium nitrate fertilizer.
This IED is coupled with two-and-a-half tons of explosives, all
loaded into a "delivery truck" stolen in the Washington, o.c.
area. The book goes on to describe how the truck is then driven
into the basement of the FBI building utilizing the "10th street
freight door."
The results of the explosion are described in part as
follows,
"The scene in the courtyard was one of utter
destruction. The whole Pennsylvania Avenue wing of the
FBIHQ building •••had collapsed, partly into the
courtyard in the center of the building and partly
into Pennsylvania Avenue. A huge, gaping hole yawned
in the courtyard pavement just beyond the rubble of
collapsed masonry, and it was from this hole that most
of the column of black smoke was ascending."

'Ib.e cited dates (September 16, 1991 and October 12,
1991) of violence and terrorism are brought to the attention of
FBIHQ solely in the context of informed preparedness. It is not
the intent of the San Antonio Division to foster paranoia with
regard to this novel, the White Supremist Movement or any aspect
thereof, but moreover to specifically highlight the fictional
events portrayed and point out the significance of this novel as a
foundation document within the "movement."
Although the San Antonio Division recognizes that this
novel is similar in nature to the futuristic 11 1984 11 by Orwell, we
are equally aware, as is FBIHQ of the prior manifestations from
the "Turner Diaries" of aspects such as "the Order" and acts of
violence such as assassinations (ALAN BERG) and armored car
robberies by "the Order." 'Ib.ese exact actions came from the
fictional accounts of the "TUrner Diaries." rt is the sole
purpose of this communication to point out the significance of the
near future (September/October, 1991) as portrayed in the "Turner
Diaries." Any action or precautions which may or may not be
undertaken are left to the discretion of FBIHQ.
