Dear Parents,

Sacrament of Reconciliation: A huge congratulations to Ryan, Hannah, Darragh and Amy

who made the sacrament of Reconciliation in our school on the 18th May. The ceremony was
very intimate and very meaningful. Thank you to Canon McGinn for coming out to the school
and to Mrs. Treanor and the children’s parents who had the pupils so well prepared.

PTA: At our meeting on 25th of May it was suggested that we would ask our PTA treasurer,
Stella Murphy to take the school photos this year.
Stella will take individual photos of each child, class photos and family photos and then these
will be emailed to parents. Parents will be asked to make a contribution to the PTA in return
for the photos. We are grateful to Stella for giving her time and her talent to our PTA.

Book List: As you know we run a very successful Book Rental scheme in our school. For the
past number of years we have collected €55 per child. We also collected €9 per pupil for
Allianz 24 hour insurance. This year the book rental bill will be €56 to make the total
payment for next year €65.
The Allianz insurance is in addition to the school’s regular insurance but represents good
value because the child is insured for any accidents either at school or elsewhere. The child is
insured for 24 hours for 365 days. Families in our school have availed of the insurance to pay
for A&E fees and dental expenses over the past few years and tell me that claiming is very
straight forward.

Sports Day: One of the problems with giving a date for our Sports Day is the weather. We are
proposing to have the Sports Day on Monday 21st June and we will give details in a separate
letter when we have everything finalised.

Kiernan Milling: Congratulations to Daniel, Lauren and Riona from the Junior Room who
received lovely gifts from Kiernan Milling. The pupils took part in a National Competition to
design a poster for Kiernan Milling.

Bus Safety: We are very lucky in our school to have the services of A2B buses who take our
pupils safely to and from school each day. We are asking parents to speak with their children
about the importance of taking care on the bus. Pupils should ‘buckle up’ as soon as they get
on the bus and should not take off their seat belts until the driver has opened the door either at
our school in the morning or at their drop off point in the evening.

Window Boxes: Many thanks to Dympna who has repainted our special Tyre plant holders.
Our window boxes are now up on the windows and the pupils are watering them regularly.

 Over the summer we ask families to take it in turn to water our window boxes and other
plants. If there are any dates over the holidays that don’t suit you, please let me know as we’ll
be arranging the rota shortly.

Summer closing: We’ll be getting our summer holidays on Thursday 24th at 12:30pm.
