Notes
Entangle yourself in the twisting, turning, and climbing
stems of the Liana Vines Top. Inspired by the lush greenery
and tropical climate of the rainforest, this v-neck style top,
with its cascading greenery appliqué, is sure to become the
hottest addition to your summer wardrobe.

Liana Vines Top is worked in four separate panels, and then

seamed together. Leaf appliqué are worked individually
before being sewn on, prior to seaming. Surface slip stitch is
used to create the stems. Panels are worked from bottom up
in HDC v-st pattern.

When instructed to decrease 1 HDC v-st at beg and/or end of

row, do so as follows:
Beg of row: Ch 3, DC2tog in same space as ch-3 just made
and next ch-1 space.
End of row: Work in HDC v-st pattern to last ch-1 space,
DC2tog in last ch-1 space and Tch of previous row.

Surface Slip Stitch

Work in the ch-1 spaces of HDC v-st. Using contrast yarn,
place a slip knot on the hook, *insert hook through the ch-1
space. While holding yarn on the wrong side of the panel, wrap
the yarn around the hook and pull through the slip knot on the
hook and thus through the Right Side panel; rep from *, pulling
the yarn through each st as required. When the design is
complete, cut the yarn and pull it through the final st to secure.

With RS of front and back panels together, join yarn to
shoulder, sl st or backstitch shoulder seams together by
working through both pieces at the same time.
Set-in Sleeves
Fold sleeves in half lengthwise, pin the center of the sleeve to
shoulder seam. Pin the bottom corners of sleeve to matching
armhole bind off. Pin the remainder of the sleeve securely
around the armhole. When sleeve is securely in place,
mattress stitch arm seam, then sleeve seam.
Seam Sides
Line up sides then pin in place. Continuing from sleeve seam,
mattress stitch the side seam leaving 2 inches unseamed for
side slits. Rep on opposite side. Fasten off.
Edging
Neck Border
Rnd 1: With RS facing, join MC in shoulder seam on the neck
edge, ch 1, SC evenly around neck opening, working SC2tog
in inner corners of base of V-neck, sl st in first SC to join, do
not turn.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, SC in each st around, sl st to first SC to join.
Fasten off.

Sizes (35.5, 40, 47, 52.5, 55, 64) Only
Rows (19, 21, 23, 23, 23, 25) - (21, 22, 24, 24, 25, 26):

Finishing
Weave in ends, wash, and block to schematics. Make
approximately 10-15 each small and 10-15 medium leaf
appliqué, or desired amount. Work stems first, then leaves
before seaming panels together.
Small Leaf
Ch 6, SC in 2nd ch from hook, HDC in next ch, DC in next 2
ch, 6 DC in last ch, working on opposite side of beg ch, DC in
next 2 ch, HDC in next ch, SC in next ch, ch 2, sl st to first SC
made. Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
Sleeve Border
