My surname «Vyugova» translated from Russian means «snowstorm».

This is snowstorm «Vyuga-3».
You can use different thread and yarn. The finished size of the snowflake depends on the selected thread and
hook. The snowflake on the pattern cover is made of cotton cord Maccaroni “Knit & Shine”, 85% Cotton
and 15% Glitter, 220 m in 100 gr, hook 2 mm. Finished size 5-6 inches.

Terms & Stitches (U.S. terminology):

SlSt – slip stitch

FP-SlSt – front post slip stitch (made around the post of stitch indicated)

SC – single crochet

HDC – half double crochet

DC – double crochet

TC – triple crochet

FPSC – front post single crochet

FP-HDC - front post half double crochet

FPDC – front post double crochet

FPTC - front post triple crochet

Picot-ch5 – CH 5, SlSt in front loop of foundation SC.

Notes:
1. The first stitch of repeat of each round is worked as the beginning stitch (for example, CH 1
counts as beginning SC, CH 2 counts as beginning HDC, CH 3 {or CSDC} counts as beginning
DC, CH 4 counts as beginning TR); if it is coupled with FP-SlSt, it is a beginning Front Post
Stitch, if it is coupled with BP-SlSt, it is a beginning Back Post Stitch.
2. Most rounds end with SlSt in top of the beginning stitch unless otherwise noted.

3. At the beginning of each round you can see a total stitch count [ ].

4. Pattern repeats are indicated within a round with any of following: * *, ( ), [ ], { }.

Round 1 – [14 DC].
Magic ring. CH 3 (counts as beginning DC), 13 DC into the ring, join with FP-SlSt around post of beginning DC.

Round 2 – [14 FPTC, 7 ch3-spaces].

CH 7 (counts as beginning FPTC + ch3-space), next FPTC work around last DC of Round 1, leaving CH 7 behind
work, *skip next stitch, FPTC around next DC, CH 3, FPTC around just skipped stitch, leaving FPTC just
made behind work* around, join in beginning FPTC.

Round 3 – [7 DC, 14 FPDC, 7 FP-Puff, 7 ch1-spaces, 14 ch2-spaces].

NOTE: FP-Puff-4 – [yarn over, insert hook around post of DC just made and pull up a loop on the height of DC]
4 times, 9 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through 8 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
FP-SlSt around beginning FPTC, CH 3 (counts as beginning FPDC), CH 2, DC in next ch3-space, FP-Puff-4 [see
NOTE] around post DC just made, CH 2, FPDC around next FPTC, CH 1;
*FPDC around next FPTC, CH 2, DC in next ch3-space, FP-Puff-4 [see NOTE] around post DC just made,
CH 2, FPDC around next FPTC, CH 1* around, to form last ch1-space work SC in beginning FPDC.

Round 4 – [7 SC, 7 Splits, 14 ch5-spaces].

NOTE: Special Split – holding back last loop of each of next stitches of Split set, work 3 legs and join together:
first leg – unfinished FPTC around FPDC indicated, second leg – unfinished TC in top of DC of Round 3 (around
which FP-Puff made), third leg - unfinished FPTC around FPDC indicated; 4 loops on hook, yarn over and pull
through all loops.
CH 1, SC in same space, CH 5, Special Split using next (FPDC, top of DC of Round 3 and FPDC), CH 5,
*SC in next ch1-space, CH 5, Special Split using next (FPDC, top of DC of Round 3 and FPDC), CH 5*
around, join with SlSt in first SC.

Round 5 – [7 SlSt, 7 FP-HDC, 14 ch5-spaces].

*CH 5, FP-HDC around top of Split, CH 5, SlSt in next SC* around, join.

Round 6 – [7 SlSt, 112 SC, 7 Picot-ch5].

*7 SC in next ch5-space, SC in top of next FP-HDC, Picot-ch5, SC in top of same FP-HDC, 7 SC in next
ch5-space, SlSt in next SlSt* around, join in first SlSt. Cut the yarn.
