PIA Evaluation

For any airline to be successful there are some very important factors that affect the
performance outcome of the airline. Some of these include: the number of connecting flights,
quality and type of food served. Comfort of flight, time schedules, luggage limit allowed.
An airline’s major revenue comes out of the business class seats. Although they are less in
number, but their overall revenue is more than economy seats in larger number.

For this case we are going to analyze the luggage carrying limit by PIA. For this we will
evaluate PIA and its domestic competitor Serene Air.

RQ: Is PIA allowing competitive amount of luggage limit for its business class travelers,
in comparison to its competitors?
H1: PIA is providing a standard amount of luggage capacity.
H2: There is someone out there providing a significantly more amount of luggage capacity.

PIA is offering 12 Kg of hand carry and 56 Kg checked baggage for its business class
passengers. Whereas Serene Air provides 12 Kg hand carry but 80 Kg of checked baggage.
The total luggage allowed on PIA is 68 Kg against Serene Air providing 92 Kg. This
difference of about 30% gives Serene Air a huge edge over PIA.
