NAME: KHO, ENZO MIGUEL O. GRADE, TRACK & SECTION: 11 HUMSS BB/FF

Instructions:
1. Measure your height, arm span, and foot length in centimeters (cm) and weight in
kilograms (kg).
Name Height Arm Span Foot Length Weight
Enzo Migue Kho 179 cm 173 cm 27 cm 65 kg

2. Randomly pick nine (9) classmates and combine your data with their data. Input them in the
table.

a. Is the trend increasing or decreasing?

The trend is relatively increasing and decreasing in variation, but, somewhat majority are
increasing.

b. Is there a constant upward trend or a constant downward trend?

Although some did not act accordingly to the trend; however, as observed with the majority,
there is a constant upward trend, implying that as the height increases, the arm span also
increases.

c. Do the points seem to form an elongated ellipse or a fat ellipse?

As observed, the trend seems to follow an elongated ellipse. There may be some that did not act
accordingly to the trend; however, majority of it seems to follow an elongated trend.

d. Is the linear relationship between the x and y variables strong or weak?

Yes, the linear relationship between x and y is quite strong, but not that ultimately strong.
e. Are there points that are far from the cluster formed by the other points? If there
are any, change the color of these point/s into red.
Observing, there are none. All seems to act normal, and no one seems to be an exemption
from the other points.

HEIGHT

a. Is the trend increasing or decreasing?

The trend is relatively increasing and decreasing in variation.

b. Is there a constant upward trend or a constant downward trend?

I d ’t ee . It eem th t trend do not act consistently. As can be observed from the majority,
however, it still shows that as height increases, foot length also increases. It’s just that, it does
not show consistency, varying from increasing, decreasing trend, and stationary.

c. Do the points seem to form an elongated ellipse or a fat ellipse?

The points seem to portray a flat ellipse.

d. Is the linear relationship between the x and y variables strong or weak?

It seems to be weak because they seem to scatter around and is not showing consistency.
e. Are there points that are far from the cluster formed by the other points? If there are any,
change the color of these point/s into red.
There are none. All seems to act according to the trend without exemption. However, there are
minor uniqueness and certain criteria that does not adhere to the relationship of the height, but
ti , it’ not that huge and not of an exemption.

HEIGHT

a. Is the trend increasing or decreasing?

As observed, the trend is increasing.

b. Is there a constant upward trend or a constant downward trend?

It may not be that constant; however, the upward trend is evident and until to the last point, it
seems to show that most of the subjects are consistently showing a clear relationship that when
height increases, weight also increases. Hence, we can still conclude that the trend is
approaching an upward trend.

c. Do the points seem to form an elongated ellipse or a fat ellipse?

Yes, the points seem to form an elongated ellipse.

d. Is the linear relationship between the x and y variables strong or weak?

Yes, the linear relationship between x and y variables are strong. As observed in the majority, the
graph clearly shows that when height increases, weight also increases and all seems to act
accordingly to the upward trend.
e. Are there points that are far from the cluster formed by the other points? If there are any,
change the

color of these point/s into red.

There are two. Though most points seem to act accordingly to the trend; however these two
points seems to be different from the others. They seem to be almost extremely high or
extremely low. In one instance, the one has a lower height but has a huge weight (comparable to
the other subjects). Meanwhile, in other instance, one has a longer height but seems to have a
lower weight. But, i , thei e ut ie i ’t much f diffe e ce t the the . he
still seem to follow the trend, and only differ in a small fraction. It is just that their numbers seem
to be huge or small, comparable to the others almost of the same level as them.

4. Write a 1-paragraph reflection with a maximum of 100 words. You can follow the guide
questions below for your reflection:

a. How do the word problems I solved relate to real-world situations?

b. What did I learn about the word problems or myself as I worked on this task?

c. What moments was I most proud of while doing this task?

ESSAY

From an aspiring researcher’s perspective, the word problems helped me greatly. First, in null
and alternative hypothesis, it helped me provide an approximate description of the phenomena,
creating relational statement of the given data. Moreover, in correlation analysis, I learned how
to identify the correlation on graphs, while, assessing its trend. For myself, who is an aspiring
researcher, I learned that I must hone my skill in this particular field. Doing so, it would make
me a more effective researcher in the future. Above all, I’m most proud that I’m able to grasp
and understand the concept of these topics.
