Consultation, Supervision, and Advocacy Plan

This is your paper’s introduction (one paragraph). An effective introduction prepares the

reader by identifying the purpose of the paper and providing the organization of the paper. Note

that this paragraph does not have a heading; its position at the beginning of the body of the paper

indicates that it is the introduction. Instead, include the title of your paper centered at the top of

the page, not bolded. In the body of your paper, indent the first line of each paragraph. Double

space throughout (with no extra spaces between paragraphs) and use 12-point Times New

Roman. For the purposes of this assessment, simply replace this text with a brief paragraph in

your own words stating what this paper will cover, thus cuing the reader as to what will follow.

Serving [Your Selected Population]

Identify a population with mental health counseling needs as well as other needs, for

example, children with medical needs who also experience high anxiety, or chemically

dependent persons with recurring mental health crises. Briefly describe how counseling can

benefit this population.

In another paragraph, concisely evaluate how this group has been served in the history of

clinical mental health counseling, including key events that have influenced counseling services

available for this population. This section should be in third-person voice.

Counseling Services across the Continuum of Care

Describe the agency that is requesting consultation, briefly outlining the services they

provide. Identify where their services fit within the continuum of care available in the

community.

In a second paragraph, identify and describe the other professionals or entities to whom

they can refer clients with needs that you identified in the previous section for coordinated care,

including outpatient services, inpatient services, partial hospitalization, and aftercare options.

Consultation Plan

Describe a concise plan for consulting with the agency. Include the specific consultation

theory, model, and strategies you would propose to assist the agency in improving coordinated

services for their clients with the counseling needs you described in the first section of this paper.

Supervision Plan

Describe a concise counseling supervision model for the agency. Include identification of

the roles involved as well as specific supervision strategies for maintaining ethical and consistent

client care within the agency. Consider whether specific types or opportunities for supervision

will be needed by those caring for the population you chose as the focus for this assignment.

Advocacy Steps to Reduce Barriers for Clients

In the final section of your plan, recommend several additional steps professionals at the

agency could take to advocate at the state or national level to reduce barriers that impede access,

equity, and success for the specific client population you chose as the focus for this assignment.
