Witchcraft 101 Episode #7

Improving our Magick

Now you're a witch, casting spells in a magick circle, reading, writing and meditating regularly.
You're on the lookout for magick tools and things.

So what do all of these candles and rocks do? What's up with 50 kinds of handmade incense, or
herbs, and what the hell are talismans and amulets doing hanging on everyone?

They are all just symbols. Witches use the energy contained in the objects, and the energies they
connect to, to draw certain kinds of energy into the spell, whether elemental, deific or other
power source. We use colors, stones and natural products to connect us to these forces.

Symbols also help us refine and shape our intention, and that's the root of magick. We use
pictures, candles and stones, statues, soils and other symbols to focus and intensify our will, and
our intention.

These symbols are grouped for ease of use into "correspondences" or categories of relevance.
These categories, correspondences, include all of the basic magickal properties of a given herb,
stone, candle, color or incense, and will include planetary relationships, elements, astrology, and
magickal uses, among other important information.

In the library and photo albums are over 2000 charts, lists and photos detailing dozens of types of
correspondence for literally everything a new witch could ever want to know.

Plus, here's a great list of elemental correspondences from Witchipedia, which I had to seriously

So that's a good list. Begin memorizing it. Don't worry about herbs and stones, but memorize the
qualities of each element, the colors, directions and tools. This makes it easier to write spells,
without constantly referring to the charts. Absolutely save the correspondence picture from this
post. Memorize it.

Keep doing your homework. I know it's a lot, but it pays off in the long run. Read your books,
meditate daily. If you feel comfortable, increase your meditation time, otherwise do 10 or 15
minutes daily.

Write these correspondences down in your book, keep gathering tools, and cast a spell if you
want. Go to the witch store, get some candles, they are cheap, so are rocks.
