Project title

Section 1: Review
(approx. 150 words) During Unit one and two I produced multiple experiments which featured the
human figure especially in unit one when I did life drawing as well as mono
printing focused more on shape based off some street photography I did
previously. Looking back at the two units I think that textiles and photography
are my strongest areas which is why for unit two I really dived into these subject
areas and focused on techniques like stitching, knitting and styling to create an
effective photo shoot. For this project, I would like to explore these techniques
further but through even more experimentation with other materials/techniques
such as wire sculpture, embroidery and using photoshop to enhance and
manipulate my photography. Therefore, my focus is to use photography and
textiles to allow me to manipulate work (digitally and physically) to explore
emotion and destroy portraits in various ways.

Section 2:
Project concept Following on from my first two projects I have realised that I have an interest in
(approx. 250 words) the way the mind works and the human figure so for my Final Major Project I
would like to explore emotion and expression mainly through photography and
textiles. Therefore, I would like to look at these ideas in relation to mental health
and anxiety or creating pieces that have a range of emotions clashing or
contrasting to represent the chaos of life through a wide range of techniques.
To represent this, I want to look at distortion within photoshop and editing styles
as well as physically destroying images and stitching into them or painting but
keeping things expressive because I think that its important with this concept. In
terms of photography, I would like to explore in camera effects like having a low
shutter speed to capture movement in the style of Alexey Titarenko- however I
want to use this technique on portraiture shots in a studio rather than the
streets because of the current restrictions. I think for this project having a
variety of techniques and scales will be important to reinforce that idea of chaos
within human emotions and everyday life.

Section 3: Evaluation
(approx. 100 words) Going into this project I know from the previous units that I need to be well
organised and keep up to date with any evaluation and reviews on my blog to
make sure I am on track to meeting all my deadlines and getting the most out of
my concept. As a result of this I am going to be making lists at the end of each
week so that I can take a step back and make an action plan to make sure I am
not falling behind. This will also be done while getting critical advice off
specialist area tutors and peer feedback.
