In the 10th year hijri, our beloved prophet (s.a.a.w.s) went on hajj. This hajj became known as
( )حجة الوداعthe farewell pilgrimage. Where over 100 thousand of the sahaba embarked on
this journey also.
And on the day of Arafat (9 th of dhul hijjah) Allah’s word came down……. (tafsir ibn Kathir
(Arabic) volume 2 pages 19, and in the saheehayn )3017( صحيح مسلم، )7268( )صحيح البخاري.
(This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen
for you Islam as your religion.)
Surah 5 ayah 3
Allah completed the religion for us, and left nothing out as he says……
َي ٍء
ْ ب ِمن ش ْ َّما فَر
ِ َّطنَا فِي ْال ِكتَا
We have neglected nothing in the Book.
Surah 6 ayah 38
After completing hajj, the prophet returned to Madinah. Each tribe of the sahaba returning
to their own homes etc…. meaning not all the sahaba returned with him, and on the 18 th of
dhul hijjah they arived at a place known as Ghadeer Khum,
( مكان بين مكة والمدينة قريب من الجحفة: القطعة من الماء يُغا ِد ُرها السيل؛ و ُخ ّم:)الغدير
They left mecca on the 13th of dhul hijjah (third day of tashreeq)
At ghadeer khum the beloved stood and spoke to the sahaba, the reason……
Prior to going on Haj, the prophet sent Khalid to yemen to spread islam. While in yemen
Khalid got into some altercations with certain tribes in yemen. So, he sent back to the
)غنائم( prophet that he needed help splitting the prizes of war
So, the prophet sent Ali may Allah be pleased with him out, and told him once he finishes to
……meet him in mecca for hajj
The events of what occurred in Yemen differ from narrations but the two most authentic
……are
One narration is that some of the troops were angered at Ali because he ordered the prizes
of war be redistributed. Because of a mistake that was made in distribution. So, some of
soldiers ended up getting less than they got the first time.
The second narration is that when splitting the prizes of war Ali took a (jariyyah) slave girl for
himself out of the 1/5th.
He took her to his tent and did what is halal for him, finished came out and left to did ghusl,
so a sahabi by the name Buraida and Khalid saw him and got angry so when they got to
……Mecca, Buraida complained to the prophet
سبب حديث غدير ُخ ّم هو أن النبي صلى هللا عليه وسلم قبْل حجة الوداع أرسل خالد بن الوليد رضي هللا عنه إلى اليمن في
قتال انتصر خالد في جهاده ،وغنم غنائم ،فأرسل إلى رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم يخبره بذلك ،ويطلب إرسال من يُخ ِّمس
ي بن أبي طالب رضي هللا عنه لتلك المهمة ،ثم أمره أن يدركه في الحج، تلك الغنائم ،فأرسل النبي صلى هللا عليه وسلم عل َّ
وقسّم رضي هللا عنه تلك الغنائم كما أمر هللا :أربعةَ أخماس للمجاهدين ،و ُخمسًا هلل والرسول وذوي القربى واليتامى
علي ُخ مس ذوي القربى -وهو سيد ذوي القربى -للنبي صلى هللا عليه وسلم ،فغضب بعض والمساكين وابن السبيل .فأخذ ٌّ
الصحابة كبُريدة بن الحصيب رضي هللا عنه ،فاشتكى بُريدة إلى النبي صلى هللا عليه وسلم وقصَّ عليه ما فعل عل ٌّي ،فلم يَر ّد
عليه النبي صلى هللا عليه وسلم ،وكرَّر بريدة الشكوى وما حصل من عل ٍّي ،فلما كانت الثالثة قال :يا رسول هللا ،عل ٌّي فعل
كذا وكذا ،فقال النبي« :يا بريدة أتبغض علًيًّّwا؟ قال :نعم يا رسول هللا ،فقال« :ال تفعل فإن له في ال ُخمس أكثر من ذلك» .يقول
بريدة رضي هللا عنه :فأحببته بعد ذلك؛ ألن النبي صلى هللا عليه وسلم قال :ال تبغضه
رواها البخاري )( 4349وأحمد )23086
والبيهقي في الكبرى )(6/342
So the prophet stood at ghadeer khum and gave the famous speech,
عن زيد بن أرقم قال :قام رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم يو ًما فينا خطيبًا ،بماء يدعى ُخ ًّwمًّا بين مكة والمدينة ،فحمد هللا وأثنى عليه،
ووعظ وذكر ،ثم قال« :أما بعد ،أال أيها الناس ،فإنما أنا بشر يوشك أن يأتي رسول ربي فأجيب ،وأنا تارك فيكم ثقلين :أولهما كتاب
ث على كتاب هللا ور َّغب فيه ،ثم قال« :وأهل بيتي ،أذكركم هللاَ في أهل فح َّ
هللا ،فيه الهدى والنور ،فخذوا بكتاب هللا ،واستمسكوا به»َ .
»بيتي ،أذكركم هللاَ في أهل بيتي ،أذكركم هللاَ في أهل بيتي
)19285( وأحمد في مسنده،)2408( رواه مسلم في صحيحه.
. اللهم وا ِل، «من كنت مواله فهذا وليّه:علي رضي هللا عنه فقال
ٍّ ثم أخذ بيد.» وأنا مولى كل مؤمن، «إن هللا عز وجل موالي:ثم قال
وعا ِد من عاداه،من وااله
ونقل ابن كثير عن.)4576( والحاكم في المستدرك،)1765( والطحاوي في شرح مشكل اآلثار،)8148( رواه النسائي في الكبرى
5/229 كما في البداية والنهاية،الذهبي تصحيحه.
So the Shia took this as clear cut evidence that the prophet is assigning imamah to Ali and his
sons. And that all the khulafa ar Rashidun were wrong in the khalifah and all those that did
bayah are wrong (fallen into ithm).
As for us, we do not take this and cannot take this narrative because if it was referring to
Imamah and if it was wajib upon us then it would have been necessary upon the Prophet (s)
to say that upon Arafah when everyone was there. Not after he had completed hajj and
Ghadeer Khum. The case was that he did not mention Imamah, Khilafah or Ali at Arafah.
Rather Allah’s word came down that on this day He had completed the religion for us.
It wasn’t until after everyone returned to their homes and the Prophet and the Sahabah
from Medina were returning to Medina, they stopped at Ghadeer Khum on the 18 th of Dhul
Hijjah and he gave his famous speech. And it is impossible to derive from his speech that Ali
was the next Imam or Khalifah of the Muslims.
How? And we know that the Prophet (s) was the most well spoken . As in the Qur’an
Imamah is mentioned in many places and was used for many meanings and evidences.
So the Wali and the Maula comes from the meaning Rab. And Nasih comes from Rasool and
the meaning Sahib, ally, munim and supporter comes from Allah.
Saying that Maula here only means or could only mean Khilafah, or Imam, or SULTA, this is
takhsees that needs clear cut undisputable evidence. How when all the evidences point to
that the Prophet (s) met the (Rafiq al a’la) without leaving a wasiyah behind for any of his
friends/sahabah.
But rather the evidence refutes them, as in the 9 th year of Hijrah, at the end of it, after the
opening of Makkah, the Prophet (s) sent Abu Bakr Amir upon Hajj and the Siddiq marched
to Makkah. While on the way, Allah’s word came down from part of Surah al Tawbah
(Bara’a) So the Prophet (s) sent Ali to catch up with Abu Bakr. When Ali reached Abu Bakr,
Abu Bakr asked Ali “Were you sent Amiran am Ma’muran”, So Ali said “I was sent
Ma’muran”. ( ومن يتقدم عليك......)بل مؤمورا يا ابا بكر
When the Prophet (s) got sick, the sick of death, who did he ask to lead the prayer?
And in the saqifah of Bani Sa’eeda when the Prophet (s) had passed away, the Ansar
gathered to appoint a Khalifah and why not because they are the Ansar of Allah and his
Prophet and they are the people of Medina. So the Muhajiroon went over to them and
among them was Abu Bakr, Umar, Abu Ubaydah ibnul Jarah and they talked, and a lot of
hearsay was brought up, so Abu Bakr spoke and said “Oh Ansar, you guys are the Wazeers
and we are the Ameers and the Prophet (S) the Imam’s are from Quraysh and he said I
advise you good of the Ansar that you accept from the good of them, and to pardon the
bad of them, and Allah (swt) called us al sadiqoon and you al mufliheen” and he recited the
ayahs,
He continued and said “ and allah ordered you to follow us where he said يَا أَيُّهَا الَّ ِذينَ آ َمنُوا اتَّقُوا
َ ”هَّللا َ َو ُكونُوا َم َع الصَّا ِدقِينAnd the Abu Bakr said Umar “ put out your hand so I can give bayah to
you” and the people stepped forward to give Umar bayah and Umar said “ تبايعوني وفيكم ثاني
“ ”اثنينbetween you or among you is the second man in the dawlah the Sideeq” so the
people stood and gave bayah to Abu Bakr and then all the others and then Ali (ra).
Our difference with the shia isn’t on salah and wudhu rather its on the usool of the religion.
As they believe allah told the prophet to appoint imams after him that none should
transgress against.
Although when debating them we could use the hadith but they wont accept so we will use
what they have no choice but to accept and cannot refute, the Holy Qu’ran.
ُصا ِحبِ ِه اَل تَحْ َز ْن إِ َّن هَّللا َ َم َعنَا ۖ فَأَنزَ َل هَّللا ُ َس ِكينَتَهَ َِار إِ ْذ يَقُو ُل ل
ِ َص َرهُ هَّللا ُ إِ ْذ أَ ْخ َر َجهُ الَّ ِذينَ َكفَرُوا ثَانِ َي ْاثنَي ِْن إِ ْذ هُ َما فِي ْالغ
َ صرُوهُ فَقَ ْد ن ُ إِاَّل تَن
َزي ٌز َح ِكي ٌم هَّللا ْ ْ هَّللا ُ ْ َّ َّ َ
ِ َعلَ ْي ِه َوأيَّ َدهُ بِ ُجنُو ٍد ل ْم تَرَوْ هَا َو َج َع َل َكلِ َمةَ ال ِذينَ َكفَرُوا ال ُّسفلَ ٰى ۗ َو َكلِ َمة ِ ِه َي العُليَا ۗ َو ُ ع
Surah 9 ayah 40
How do you refute this?
This ayah is literal clear cut evidence and admission from Allah that Abu Bakr is a true friend
and not a munafiq, is not a liar.
Did the prophet say ( ? )ال تحزن ان هللا معيNO………. rather he said ()ۖ اَل تَحْ َز ْن إِ َّن هَّللا َ َم َعنَا
So does befit allahs majesty that he associates himself with someone who he knows down
the line would do what lies the shia put upon Abu Bakr.
So does allah not know that Abu Bakr and all these sahaba would do what the shia say they
do ?
Allahs word never changes, allah is with them, so allah was with them in life, and allah was
with Abu Bakr even after the death of the prophet.
ٍ ار الَّ ِذينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ فِي َسا َع ِة ْال ُعس َْر ِة ِمن بَ ْع ِد َما كَا َد يَ ِزي ُغ قُلُوبُ فَ ِري
َ ق ِّم ْنهُ ْم ثُ َّم ت
َُاب َعلَ ْي ِه ْم ۚ إِنَّه َ َ اج ِرينَ َواأْل
ِ نص ِ َاب هَّللا ُ َعلَى النَّبِ ِّي َو ْال ُمه
َ َّلَّقَد ت
َّحي ٌمِ وف ر ٌ بِ ِه ْم َر ُء
Does Allah promise the Muhajireen and the Ansar Paradise and then after the Prophet dies
takes it away?
ِ َُّّم َح َّم ٌد َّرسُو ُل هَّللا ِ ۚ َوالَّ ِذينَ َم َعهُ أَ ِش َّدا ُء َعلَى ْال ُكف
ار ُر َح َما ُء بَ ْينَهُ ْم ۖ تَ َراهُ ْم ُر َّكعًا ُس َّجدًا يَ ْبتَ ُغونَ فَضْ اًل ِّمنَ هَّللا ِ َو ِرضْ َوانًا
So they have rahmah between them. They don’t hate each other.
So which do we believe? The books, the stories, the lies or the Qur’an which has clear cut
evidence, let alone out authentic ahadith.
They take Eid Al Ghadeer because the sahaba did after a jewish man approached Umar, this
is false. The hadith has two narrations, one of Umar the other of Ibn Abbas…… and both are
sahih……
Ibn ‘Abbas said that a Jew who was with him when he recited, “Today I have perfected for you your
religion . . ."(Al-Qur’an; 5:3) remarked, “If this verse had been revealed to us we would have made it
a festival." Ibn ‘Abbas replied, “It was revealed on a day which contained two festivals, on a Friday
and on the day of ‘Arafa."
Narrated Tariq bin Shibab:Some Jews said, "Had this Verse been revealed to us, we would have
taken that day as `Id (festival)." `Umar said, "What Verse?" They said:-- "This day I have Perfected
your religion for you, Completed My Favor upon you And have chosen for you Islam as your religion"
(5.3) `Umar said, "I know the place where it was revealed; It was revealed while Allah's Messenger (
)ﷺwas staying at `Arafat."
