Final Exam
Trial Technique January 18, 2021

What I learned in Trial Technique

Trial Technique is one of my subjects this semester. As I am already in my third

year, I find this subject very interesting because it teaches us how to act as a lawyer

during trial. This is one of the most interesting subjects because it can surely be applied

once we become lawyers. During the course of our discussion, we learned so many tips

and tricks on how to do cross examination. We learned that in cross examination,

leading questions are very important and it really takes time for someone to acquire

such skill. Leading questions, according to our lesson, are those that suggests its own

answer. These type of questions are should be answerable by yes or no. When leading

questions are asked to a witness, it makes the latter be on their guard because they

might spit out something in their answer which may not be favorable on their side. I

believe that it is an important skill that lawyers should possess because it may easier for

lawyers to manipulate the witnesses in acquiring a favorable answer in the cross

examination.

We also learned that not only is our speaking skills important. We should also

develop our writing skills. I remember during my recitation in this subject I was asked if I

believe in the saying that a pen is mightier than the sword and I answered yes specially

in our case as aspiring lawyers. I believe that lawyers should be able to express their
thoughts not only through actions but they must be able to do the same in writing. It

should be part of our skillset as lawyers.

This subject has been one of my favorites this semester. As I have mentioned, I

believe it is one of the most important subjects in our Law course because it teaches us

the do’s and don’ts of a lawyer in a trial. These skills, I believe will be truly beneficial to

us and we are very much thankful to our professor for the knowledge that he has given.

Even for a short period of time, he was able to deliver an important lesson to us aspiring

lawyers. What we learned in our subject will truly become a skill that we will never

forget.
