SCO OpenServer 6 Installation Guide

SCO OpenServer 6 provides two editions to customers, including Enterprise Editio


and Starter Edition. For the differences, and hardware requirement, please see the
followings:

Hardware Requirement for SCO OpenServer 6 OS Installation:

Installation Steps:
¾ Please boot the system with OSR6 CD, just press ENTER after seeing Boot
prompt.

¾ System will show the license, please press ENTER.

¾ System tells the function keys definition during OS installation, please press
ENTER.

¾ Accept or Refuse the OS license agreement, please choose "Accept".

¾ System asks if other HBA driver is necessary? Please choose according to the
situation.

¾ System shows the loaded HBA drivers, please press ENTER.

¾ To choose the installation methods, please choose "Install from CD-ROM"

¾ To choose the keyboard mapping, please use the default configuration.

¾ To Input License Information

¾ System Configuration. Customer should set system name, domain name, and Time
Zone. Other configurations are depending on customers' environment. After
system name and domain name are configured, please enter Time Zone
configuration.

¾ For instance, you can choose Asia -> Taiwan Standard Time, if you are located in
Taiwan. Then choose "Accept" and go back the previous screen.

¾ Go back the system configuration screen, and choose "Accept" to continue.

¾ Setup the hard drive, and choose the installation packages. Generally speaking,
customers just need to setup the hard drive configuration.

¾ After entering hard drive configuration, please do according to the situation.

¾ Then setup the partition, if nothing special, please just accept the default
configuration.

¾ Setup the filesystem size, and allocation. Accept the default values unless special
situation.

¾ Hard drive option, please accept default value.

¾ Go back to previous screen

¾ Go back to previous screen

¾ Configure network, Xwindow, Mouse..etc.

¾ Configure the TCP/IP setup.

¾ Go back to previous screen, mouse is detected automatically, and suggested to use


Sendmail mail system.

¾ Set the root password

¾ Final installation confirmation. System can begin to install.

The regular OS installation on Pentium 4 system may need 50 minutes.


After OS is installed, please check : http://www.sco.com/support/download.html or
ftp.sco.com for latest SCO OS fix, e.g. Maintenance Pack.
