Title: FIRE & LIFESAFETY EDUCATOR CERTIFICATION – REQUIREMENTS

Release Date: September 27, 2012

To receive the Fire and Lifesafety Educator Certificate of Competency, the applicant must
successfully complete 64 hours of class, and pass a state written examination.

Documentation of training is to be submitted with the required Application for Fire and
Lifesafety Educator Certification Examination (DFS-K4-1456), Personal Inquiry Waiver
(DFS-K4-1020), along with all other supporting documents and processing fee, at least 10
business days prior to the scheduled test date.

One 40-hour course and one 24-hour course are required for certification. The courses are
offered at the Florida State Fire College, Community and Junior Colleges throughout the state,
and some of the Certified Training Centers.
