CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION
1.1.Background
This process involves physically scrubbing the skin with an abrasive.[6] Mechanical exfoliants
include microfiber cloths, adhesive exfoliation sheets, micro-bead facial scrubs, crepe paper,
crushed apricot kernel or almond shells, sugar or salt crystals, pumice, and abrasive materials
such as sponges, loofahs, brushes, and simply fingernails.[7][8] Facial scrubs are available in over-
the-counter products for application by the user. People with dry skin should avoid exfoliants
which include a significant portion of pumice, or crushed volcanic rock. Pumice is considered a
good material to exfoliate the skin of the feet. Microdermabrasion is another mechanical method
of exfoliation.
Chemical exfoliants include scrubs containing salicylic acid, glycolic acid, fruit enzymes, citric
acid, or malic acid which may be applied in high concentrations by a medical professional, or in
lower concentrations in over-the-counter products. Chemical exfoliation may involve the use of
products that contain alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs, like glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic
acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, and citric acid), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs, typically salicylic
acid), polyhydroxy acids (PHAs, like lactobionic acid, gluconolactone, and galactose) or
enzymes that act to loosen the glue-like substance that holds the cells together, allowing them to
ease away. This type of exfoliation is recommended for people treating acne.[9][10] In beauty spa
treatment in continental Europe, the wine-producing grapes are claimed to have exfoliating
properties and are used in the practice of vinotherapy.

CHAPTER II DISCUSSION

Body scrub is a body treatment which is also called a facial for the body. Body scrubs hydrate
skin, leaving skin looking and feeling soft. Body scrubs are generally made of abrasive
ingredients such as salt, sugar, coffee grounds, etc. which are usually mixed with massage oils
and essential oils. Also often called a body treatment which is also often known as a body facial
or bleaching.

The function of a body scrub is to hydrate the skin, so the skin feels soft. Body scrubs are
generally made of abrasive ingredients such as salt, sugar, and coffee grounds which are usually
mixed with massage oils and essential oils. Now you can easily find body scrubs in shopping
centers and pharmacies.
Just like skin cells on the face, skin cells in the body are also regularly replaced with new,
healthier cells under the skin. The process of replacing these cells slows down as we age. To help
the process of replacing these cells, use a body scrub.

The benefit of a body scrub is that when you massage it on your skin, the exfoliating granules
have a role in helping to remove dead skin. Rubbing the scrub on the skin improves circulation
and helps drain the lymph nodes, by increasing blood flow to the surface of the skin.

However, another important use of using a scrub is the comfort you feel when using a body
scrub. The texture of the scrub will refresh your skin, and the fragrance will give you a
comfortable feel

1. RISE THE SKIN CELLS OFF

Not only skin cells on the face, skin cells in the body also undergo regular replacement with new,
healthier cells under the skin. However, the replacement of these cells may slow down as you
age. In order for cell replacement to run smoothly, it is necessary to use a body scrub.

2. PREVENTING ACNE AT THE BACK

Routinely doing body scrubs can prevent acne on the skin of the back. If the dead skin cells and
dirt on the body are removed from the surface of the skin, the dirt clogging the pores will
disappear. However, because the back is an area of the body that is quite difficult to reach, we
recommend that you use tools to reach this area, or try to ask for help from your family or closest
people to do it.

3. OVERCOMING SKIN AND AGAINST AGING

The benefits of a body scrub that is equally important is to fight the appearance of signs of aging.
Dead skin cells must be removed by scrubbing so that the regeneration process of newer skin
cells can take place smoothly. Another bonus of doing regular scrubbing is that it helps get rid of
cellulite in the stomach or thigh area.

4. BODY RELAXATION

You can also feel the benefits of body scrubs for body relaxation when done with massaging
movements. When massaged, tense muscles become more relaxed. The texture of scrub products
also usually contains ingredients that can refresh your skin. Apart from that, the fragrant aroma
can give you a soothing feeling during scrubbing and after.

5. ACCESSORIES OF BLOOD CIRCULATION

The next benefit of a body scrub is to improve blood circulation to the skin's surface and help
rejuvenate the skin. This is because the scrubbing process is usually carried out with slow and
gentle massaging movements so that it can help smooth blood circulation.
HOW TO APPLY BODY SCRUB

1. Take a shower before doing a body scrub

Body scrubs are best used after bathing. This means that the body is clean from dirt and sweat
stuck to the body. It is also recommended to use antiseptic soap when bathing to remove germs
and bacteria on the skin.

2. Rub in a circular motion

After the body is clean, apply a body scrub to the body. However, make sure you have washed
with water and that your body is completely clean so that the skin pores are open and not clogged
with dirt and oil. Then, scrub in a circular motion from top to bottom. Avoid turning it upside
down because it can make the skin wrinkled.

3. Massage the body while using a body scrub

When using a body scrub, you can also do gentle massage for about one minute in each area. Its
purpose is to create

tense muscles can relax again and your skin will be cleaner.

4. Rinse with cold water

Well, after about 3-5 minutes of massaging your body with a scrub, you can rinse it off with cold
water. However, when rinsing and cleaning the scrub, you can still rub and massage the body so
that the residue of the scrub that sticks to the skin can be washed off because of the cold water.

The impact of scrubbing too often

But be careful, even though it has health benefits, you still shouldn't scrub too often. The top
layer of the skin is a protective layer, so if too often scrubbing will disturb the layer. The
disruption of this protective skin layer will make the skin more sensitive to ultraviolet rays,
causing redness and burning easily. In addition, daily scrubs are also not recommended because
they can cause skin damage, such as:

1. Dry skin

Dry skin arises from the loss of moisture from the skin due to the removal of natural oils due to
frequent scrubbing.

2. Wrinkles

When the skin is thinning, it will be easier to develop wrinkles, which is a sign of aging.

3. Inflammation
The newly grown skin cells will peel off again when doing the scrub every day, so the skin will
be more easily irritated to become inflamed.

Even in those with normal skin types, scrubbing every day can trigger excessive dryness,
irritation, redness, and damage to blood vessels. However, not doing scrubs at all can also cause
a build-up of dead skin cells that will clog your pores, thus risking acne. To make yourself more
beautiful, scrubs have indeed been a proven method of success.

CHAPTER III CLOSING

CONCLUSION
Body scrub cream is a skin care cosmetic product contains slightly harsh ingredients or so-called
obrasiver cosmetics. Cleansing cosmetics such as soap, cleansing cream, cleansing milk, even
cleansing creams are deemed unable to remove skin cellsdie. Dead skin cells cannot be separated
from the epidermis because of cosmeticsthe cleanser is too smooth and slippery. Therefore we
need a materialslightly rough to be able to shed dead skin cells from the skin, like a stone
pumice, coarse towels or cosmetic exfoliants or skin thinnerscommonly called a body scrub
cream.
