health and safety. And I have gained better understanding of what my profession is
asking of me. I enjoyed reading this material thoroughly and have gained
knowledge of my field which is why I added this to my list of impactful literature.

the working people. There are plenty information on how an OSH professional
should carry himself and act ethically in the field of practice. I loved this literature

5. Collyer, F. M., Willis, K. F., & Lewis, S. (2017). Gatekeepers in the healthcare
sector: Knowledge and Bourdieu's concept of field. Social Science & Medicine,
186, 96-103
The article analyses the gatekeepers in healthcare using Bourdieu's concept of
field. It is argued that there are several professional fields that falls under the
gatekeeper of healthcare. Being a gatekeeper they are relied upon by the public to
provide direction for their better health choices. However due to hierarchies, social
networks and knowledge. This article has opened my eyes on the importance of
having knowledge and network capital. As an occupational health and safety
officer, I will have to work independently in many scenarios and knowledge is
essential to ensure health and safety in a workplace. This article has also made me
understood the complexity in healthcare hierarchies and culture.
I added this literature on the list because I gained understanding on the nature of
healthcare professionals' duty and understood the importance of knowledge to get a
position in a professional career.
