 Abstract

Non communicable diseases are one of the leading causes of death globally, killing
more people each year than all other causes combined. Cancer is the second largest
contributor to non-communicable diseases death and causes a great deal of suffering
worldwide. Low and middle income countries accounts for about 55% of cancer
cases up to 2006 and is projected to reach 61% by 2050.
In Ethiopia, cancer is estimated to account for about 5.8% of total national
mortality.it is estimated that that the annual incidence of cancer is around 60,960
cases and the annual mortality is over 44,000.
Despite these growing figures cancer continues to receive low public health priority
in Africa and especially in Ethiopia due to limited resources and other pressing public
health problems. The different substances that are contained or added to processed
food that we eat or water we consume, play a major role in our exposure to different
cancers.
Using different research we concluded that using spectrophotometric is better suited
due to its high accuracy and sensitivity, also the price range of materials needed and
their availability is better than the rest of the methods.

Scope of our project

• The scope of our project is to test a Carcinogenic N-nitrosamine in food
and water sources.
