Ajoba Ganpati

Oldest Ganesh temple known as


Ajoba Ganpati temple, which
started celebrating the Ganesh
festival in 1885.
Ajoba Ganpati of Solapur has a
glorious tradition of about 132
years.
Lokmanya Tilak made Ganeshotsav
a public event in 1894 to mobilize
the youth for the national
movement and to spread the
freedom movement to the masses.
Eight years before that, in Solapur,
in 1885, the old generation
congregations of Shukrawar Peth
had come together and installed
Ajoba Ganapati in public.
Bhuikot Killa

Bhuikot Killa means a fort that is


built on flat land and not on any
mountain. Bhui means Land in
Marathi and Kot means Killa or
Fort.

The municipal corporation building


was built by Rao Saheb Mallappa
Warad. He was also one of the first
to bring the farming tractor to
India.The Solapur Municipal
Council was the first municipal
council to hoist the indian national

Hutatma Chowk

Hutatma is a salutation given to those brave

busy junction / square (chowk) named after them as
Hutatma Chowk. Shri. Mallappa Dhanshetti, Shri.
Kurban Hussain, Shri.Jagannath Shinde and
Shri.Kisan Sarda four fighters, all from different
religions & casts. They fought together for the
freedom of their motherland.

Tirth Kshetra
Solapur is situated between the three most
sacred cities of Maharashtra naming
Pandharpur,Tuljapur and Akkalkot also known
as Tirth Kshetra.

Pandharpur:- A holy shrine of quite antiquity


that holds Vithoba, a localized version of lord
Krishna is one among the numerous devout
destinations in Pandharpur.

association with Shri Swami Samarth Maharaj,
