Pill Bug Lab Report

Introduction
I am testing if pill bugs like wet or dry environments. Pill bugs mostly eat rotting
vegetation. The pill bug is the only crustacean that can spend its entire life on
land. Sometimes kids call them rollie-pollies. Most pill bugs live for up to two
years. They are most active at night.

Hypothesis
If pill bugs are given the choice between a wet or dry environment, then they
will choose the wet environment.

Procedure
In this experiment, 10 pill bugs were placed in 2 connected chambers. One has a
wet environment and the other has a dry environment. Over the span of 9
minutes the pill bugs could experience both wet and dry conditions and choose
which environment they like better. The materials used include connected
chambers, wet and dry paper towels, and pill bugs.

Conclusion
As a result, the experiment went as expected and my hypothesis was proven
correct. This is shown by all the pill bugs choosing the wet environment. A
potential error in this experiment is that the pill bugs might not know where the
other side of the plate was or if there was another side. The adaptive advantage
of pill bugs is shown by how they can find suitable environments for themselves
and increase their chances of survival.
