CHAPTER FOUR AND FIVE

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Objectives of the Study

A mosquito coil made up from natural mosquito repelling plants will remove the health problems

caused by commercial mosquito repellents. If this project succeeds, this can be profitable for

business and can encourage others to look for others uses of our country’s natural resources.

Having an alternative solution to prevent the different kind of diseases that mosquitoes bring

especially dengue fever and not cause another problem. Our country being tropical country can

benefit if this experiment succeeds.

1. Does mosquito coil made from Lansium Domesticum are safe to use?

2. The significant difference of commercial mosquito product to Lansium domesticum mosquito

coil?

3. The effectiveness of Lansium Domesticum as mosquito coil product?

Research Questions

To achieve the above stated objectives of the study, the following research questions were raised

1. Do you agree that my product is effective to use as mosquito coil?

2. Do you think mosquito coil made from lanzones peelings can kill butterflies, moths and other

insects?

3. Have you heard that Lanzones Peelings can be used as mosquito repellent?
4. Are you going to use my product Lansium Domesticum as your mosquito repellent at home?

5. Does this product can be a great strategy to recycled waste Lanzones Peelings?

Literature Review

This study adopted a descriptive survey design. Structure questionnaire tagged "Mosquito Coil

made from Lansium Domesticum" were used to collect information from our respondents. The

questionnaire required the respondents to supply their honest opinion about Lansium

Domesticum as Mosquito Coil.

Population

The population of this study was 20 respondents from different barangays of Isabela City

Basilan.

Administration procedure

All the respondents were administered the questionnaire in their perspective houses. The

questionnaires were distributed together with Lansium Domesticum mosquito coil and

commercial product to make comparison. The respondents were assured that there were no

positive or negative answers. They were also meant to know that their responses were to be

treated as confidential.

Data Analysis

Data collected for this study were analysed using frequency distribution and simple percentages

Results and Discussions

The group presented the data very bluntly, using the information that we got from our sources. I

present it as simple as I can so that everyone will understand the data. I also did not use any

graphics like tables, graphs or diagrams instead the group just used the very basic form of

presenting the data, which is the paragraph form.

My experiment resulted in a mosquito coil that is made from lanzones peelings which turns out

to be successful. I didn’t have major difficulties that can hinder us in making our study.

Results

Bio data and gender distribution of the respondents.

It is conclusively stated that out of 10 respondents, 45% of them are between 18-23 years old,

40% of them are 24-29 years old, 15% are 30-35 years old. 57% of them are females and 43%

are males. Their occupation indicates that 34% of them are house wife, 26% are self employed,

30% are company employed and 44% are students. 20% of respondents are familiar in using

Lanzones peel as an mosquito coil while 80% of them are not familiar. Lastly, 90% of them are

willing to use Lanzones as a mosquito repellent while 10% are not willing to use it. There are

high percentage of respondents who agreed that the Lanzones peel as mosquito repellent are

effective. Therefore, lanzones peel stay away and kills mosquito. 40% of the correspondents

strongly agreed that mosquito coil made from lanzones cannot kill butterflies, moths and

grasshoppers, 49% agreed, and 11% of them neither agree nor disagree. 28% strongly agreed that

lanzones mosquito coil can paralyze/immobilize mosquitoes, 63% agreed and 9% neither agree

nor disagree. 32% strongly agreed that it can drop dead the mosquitoes when they get in contact

with the smoke, 57% agree, and 11% neither agree nor disagree. 17% of the correspondents

strongly agreed that Lanzones is available and abundant at the vicinity, 34% agree, and 49%
neither agree nor disagree. 29% agree, and 37% of them neither agree nor disagree. 54% of them

are strongly agreed that Lanzones peeling is seasonal and effective as a mosquito coil, 29%

agreed, and 17 percent either agree nor disagree. 17% strongly agree that Lanzones is abundant

and always available on a very cheap cost, 29% agree, and 54% neither agree nor disagree. 51%

of them strongly believe that over ripe Lanzones peel is much cheaper, 23% agree, and 26% of

them neither agree nor disagree.

I now conclude that the there is really ways on how to not waste fruit peeling like that of

lanzones. Also, it can be possible to make an organic, chemical-free mosquito coil and produce a

useful product from biodegradable waste. This definitely developed in us the value of

resourcefulness.

The advantage of having findings is that we could easily see the results if whether it has been

what it should be from what we expected or not. It also compares the results of the experiment

from the other experiments done with the same procedure.

Recommendations

Mosquito coil made from lanzones peelings lets you drive away mosquitoes and other insects, in

a way that doesn’t add to environmental pollution. It doesn’t need special equipment to use it

other than just lighting it up and it is portable and can fit into small houses. I recommend this

product to everyone not only because it’s environmental friendly but also cheaper and easy to

make than other katol brands.

I also learned that the lanzones dried peelings could be an alternative as a mosquito coil. It is

safer to use than the commercialized one since we didn’t use any hazardous chemical in our
mosquito coil. The corn-starch made the mixture thick, so we advise that they need to be careful

when adding it already so that it will surely become a paste, not too much but not too little. The

lanzones peeling were placed under the sun longer so that it would be crispy enough by the time

we are going to do the experiment. The team recommends this experiment to the other students

for it is fun to do and they would learn a lot.
