INTRODUCTION

A. 1 Rationale

Mosquitoes, since they transmit a disease called dengue, are one of the

biggest problems in our society. Dengue is a viral infection transmitted by the bite of an

infected Aedes female mosquito. By monitoring the population of mosquito-carrying

borne diseases, The researcher wanted to contribute to the handling of this disease and

created this subject to create an organic mosquito coil. These days, mosquito repellents

are basically essential. One of the cheapest and most efficient ways to avoid them is to

use mosquito coils, but these coils are made up of chemicals that can affect our health.

.So the researcher thought about making a mosquito coil alternative that is not harmful to

our health and that is a natural and environmentally friendly coil.

The damage of one mosquito coil to the lungs is equal to the damage of 100

cigarettes. According to a recent study carried out in Malaysia, this was. On the based on

the previous research, it is demonstrated that charcoal is capable of reducing mosquito

coils that emit toxins as a base material (US National Library of Medicine, National

Institute of Health). In addition, the smoke of the dried breadfruit inflorescences were

shown to be repelling mosquitoes. However, without understanding the bad impact of it

on their safety, many Filipinos use a mosquito repellant. They tend to have or try some

organic mosquito coils, according to various reports. Efficiency should be tested.

Using breadfruit inflorescence and calamansi zest, this study aims to create an

efficient and purely natural mosquito coil. To assess if the present components are

appropriate as mosquito repellants. And also to know whether the product is sufficient to

eliminate mosquitoes and to discover the range of mosquito killing capabilities.

In this study the researcher is trying to improve his previous study by using

breadfruit inflorescence and calamansi zest instead of breadfruit inflorescence and

calamansi juice. Breadfruit inflorescence and calamansi zest repel mosquitoes and the

calamansi zest is generally pleasing to the nose, which makes it good material in this

study because it is eco-friendly and it has a pleasant smell which is the whole point of

this study.

B. Goals/Expected Outcomes/Hypothesis

 To produce a mosquito coil that is efficient and has a pleasant smell.

 To produce a mosquito coil that is not harmful to the environment.

 To produce a mosquito coil that is not harmful to our health.

 At the end of the study, it is expected that the mosquito coil will have a

pleasant smell and that the mosquito coil will be effective.

 There is a significant difference in using breadfruit inflorescence and

calamansi zest as an alternative ingredient in making the mosquito coil.

Research Question

 Is the eco-friendly mosquito coil effective?

 Does the eco-friendly mosquito coil have a pleasant smell?
