CHAPTER 4

A. RESULT AND DISCUSSION

Based on the results gathered, the researchers have found out the following

1. In creating the product, it was only home – made by the researchers and did notcost anything
2. since the researchers used materials found at home so it wasconsidered affordable for the
researchers but if there’s no lemongrass availableat home, our option is to buy lemongrass
3. stalks at the market which costs 5php
4. The product did not trigger any allergies or rashes on human subject hence
5. The product that we made is 100% safe
6. When you use the product that we made it will only last for 1 hour and a half

B. DATA ANALYSIS
The global mosquito repellent market size was valued at $4.1 billion in 2020 and is estimated to
reach $6.0 billion by 2027 with a CAGR of 5.6% from 2020 to 2027. Mosquito repellent is
a chemical substance applied to skin, clothing, or other surfaces, which stops mosquitos from landing
or climbing on that surface. The results of the study on the use of lemongrass leaf extract showed that
the average number of dead mosquitoes in the use of lemongrass extract was 18. The highest
percentage of died mosquitoes was at the fourth replication (100%), and after the Abbot correction
the total number of dead mosquitoes became 17.
How do you measure the effectiveness of mosquito repellent? <Calculation> p=1–(T/C)=
( C / T ) / C ② Page 19 - 14 - Here, T is the number of mosquitos collected from the subjects treated
with the repellent sample, and C is the number of mosquitos collected from the subjects in negative
(or positive) control

C. CONCLUSION

Based on the foregoing findings, the researchers drawn out the following conclusions
1. The product is 100% safe
2. Don’t trigger any rashes on human
3. Affordable to make, because we only need common things or materials and we can find it at home
and if you didn’t have any lemongrass then we can buy it at the market and it will only cost you
5 pesos
4. Easy to make, you’ll be only needing 1 hour on making this product

D. RECOMMINDATIONS
Based on the foregoing findings and conclusions, the researchers would recommend the following:
For the Future Researchers who would like to conduct the experiment that inextracting the
lemongrass oil from the lemongrass stalks, Steam Distillation could also be done at home you
can also do this in a science laboratory. Our recommendation for the future Researchers is to
give more information to the people needing it and make the product more effective than what
we made.
For the people that will make this product especially parents and guardians, I should remind you
that it should be mixed with alcohol to ensure the safety of the product when applied to skin, it avoid
skin rashes and infection.
This is so easy to make because we can find the materials in our backyard and in our home,
additional information lemongrass is one of the best plant in avoiding mosquito because To sum
this up, watch out for the mosquitoes this year! Lemon-scented plants contain citronella and are
believed to be natural mosquito repellents. Grow these plants in the ground or in pots around
your deck, entrance, and other outside living areas.
