The following websites may be useful to provide information about the uses of water for making
various products:

The Water footprint calculator website includes recommendations on how to save water, and how to
calculate a water footprint:

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) website includes pages in ‘water footprints’ and in particular the
water requirements of some key crops:

This International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an agency of the UN. Their website has
many useful statistics on water use (for example, the UN suggests that we need 20–50 litres of safe
freshwater a day for drinking, cooking and cleaning):
