LACK OF WATER
The main causes that have given rise to water scarcity are:

● The destruction of natural water sources: these

have been carried out through the
overexploitation of rivers and groundwater
reserves.

● Greater demand: the massive population,

industrial and agrarian growth has caused the
demand for water to rise drastically.
● Consumption patterns: because these generate
large imbalances by not allowing the available
water to be renewed.
● Climate change: the great responsible for the
worst periods of drought is climate change, a
great problem that we have caused throughout
society.
● Poor distribution: One of the main causes of
water scarcity is the inequitable distribution of
fresh water in the world.
● Contaminated water: it is worth mentioning the
contamination of the water of rivers, streams,
lakes and lagoons due to the dumping of
different toxic waste. Among these residues we
find those that come from industrial and
domestic waste and those derived from crop
fields in which agrochemicals have been used. If

● CAUSE-EFFECT.
1.As a vital natural resource for the survival of any
living being, the lack of water resources brings
with it major health problems, social conflicts and
environmental imbalance. Dehydration and
constipation.

2.One of the risks of water scarcity is dehydration.

Dehydration can cause constipation and diarrhea,
an illness often caused by diseases that spread in
rural areas where water is scarce.

3.Insufficient hydration can cause blurred vision.

In hot climates, dehydration can decrease this
capacity by 25%, which is a very significant fact.

Serious stomach illnesses:

4Lack of water also contributes directly to

unsanitary living conditions that lead to diseases
such as diarrhoea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid and
polio. According to the World Health Organization
(WHO), at least 2 billion people drink water
contaminated by human or animal waste. Around
829,000 deaths from diarrhea are related to
drinking unsafe water each year.

SOLUTION
During the pandemic, water has played a
fundamental role, since hand washing, along with
other care measures, are effective ways to stop
the spread of COVID-19.
1) Close the spout

When carrying out activities such as brushing

your teeth, shaving, washing your hair or soaping
yourself, avoid letting the water run when you
are not using it
2) Take a quick shower

The UN Environment Program ensures that, with

a shower of approximately 10 minutes a day
3) Recycle water

Reusing water is an effective way to take care of

this precious resource. Thanks to sanitation and
water treatment systems, wastewater recycling
has now evolved, but there are also ways to do it
from home.

4) Watch out for water leaks

With use, small leaks can appear that over time

generate large losses of water and money.
5) Use appliances efficiently

Some appliances can waste large amounts of

water when they are not used efficiently. For this
reason, it is recommended to completely fill the
washing machines and clothes dryers, and
preferably, opt for those that are more energy
efficient.
6) Water collection
In the event that you have a roof or a patio and
you live in a city where it rains a lot, you can
collect water and store it in tanks with a lid, to
later use it for watering plants and other
domestic purposes.

solution proposed by the

group
Develop new water conservation and storage
technologies.
In areas where aquifers are being depleted and
rainwater supplies are becoming increasingly
unpredictable, innovation in conservation and
storage systems is especially necessary. The
development of conservation technologies must
be made compatible with a reduction in energy
consumption.
Reflection
Clean water is a precious but scarce commodity.
We should not waste it or dirty it.
Others need it too! There are millions of children
and adults who do not have access to clean
water, so we must value what we have.
