Creating the openings for the front legs. Row 37 to row 50 are worked in three separate parts
– a small stockinette stitch section to the right, a large section, containg the Celtic knot cables
in the middle and a symmetrical small stockinette section to the left.

Right stockinette st section:

Row 37 (RS): k7, k2tog. Turn work, leaving the rest of the stitches on the left needle
unworked and work only on these 8 stitches.
Row 38 (WS): p2tog, p6.

You have finished the small stockinette section for the right leg opening. You can either break
the yarn or slip stitch it with a crochet hook along the edge of the leg opening to bring the
yarn at the beginning of the middle section of the sweater.

Middle section:

On row 92 you decrease the 10 stitches, added at the beginning of the Celtic knot chart and
transform the cable chart into a 2k2p rib chart:

Row 92 (WS): cast off 3 sts, k2, p2tog, p2tog (2 stitches decreased), k2, p2, k2tog, k2tog (2
stitches decreased), p2tog, p2tog (2 stitches decreased), k2tog, k2tog (2 stitches decreased),
p2, k2, p2tog, p2tog (2 stitches decreased), k2

You are now left with 22 sts on the needle - from the RS: (p2k2) 5 times, p2. Do not break the
yarn.
Using a needle, the 50 cm tail of yarn you left at the beginning and mattress stitch or any
other seam you prefer, stitch together the edges of the sweater to form a tube.

Rib around the hind legs. Work 2x2 rib in the round:
Row 93 (RS): (p2k2) 5 times, p2, pick up 27 stitches along the left edge of the tube, pick up
27 stitches along the right edge of the tube = total of 76 sts.
Row 94 (RS): (p2k2) 19 times
Work 2x2 rib for 8 more rounds. Cast off knit over knit stitches and purl over purl stitches.

Rib around the leg openings:

Pick up 28 stitches around the edge of the leg openings and work 2x2 rib for 10 rows.
Cast off knit over knit stitches and purl over purl stitches.
