As well as making money, businesses also have social responsibilities.

To what extent
do you agree or disagree?
It is true that company’s nature is serving the interest of its stakeholders. But opinions
enormously vary on the matter whether firms’ sole goal is to make profit or they should
both take social-wise consideration into account as well as generating revenues. While I
understand the importance attached to monetary targets of enterprises, I personally think
that not only do companies goals should be generating revenue, but they also have social
responsibilities like supporting workforces’ families and environmentally-conscious
procedures.
On the one hand, I understand that the logic behind the existence of companies is to
maximizing their revenues. The more firms earn, the higher tax will be collected. This
primely help governments to access a wider budget resources and leads to the better
covering of social needs, including education, health and infrastructures. >>If social
pivotal needs are being met properly and equally within the help of company’s taxes,
obviously in return not only it may lead to raise the life standards of individuals and
higher general sense of social satisfaction, but also as a result lessen the social
destructive factor emerge, like sense of social discrimination within the community,
because of corporate taxes >>In other words, this is the most, if not all, in many
countries, companies’ revenue indirectly, which help societies to grow.
On the other hand, if a one-sided view of revenue generation and taxation is envisaged
for companies, the participatory role of companies in communities will be diminished.
Firstly, If companies do not pay attention to their workforces’ families, they may
become less motivated. In contract, companies which prioritize supporting families of
their workforce, not necessarily in terms of monetary support, but by providing them
with stuff welfare department, will receive higher commitment within their stuffs. In this
way, they will reach the predetermined goals faster because of strong symbiotic relations
they had made between firm and employees. Secondly, since the ever- rising number of
industrial firms these days has led to serious environmental pollution, enterprises should
take immediate actions to help protect the natural environment. For example, they
should try new technologies to recycle their wastes instead of disposing of them right
away, or building green belt which improves the air quality and reduces the amount of
pollution created by factories. In other words, companies must pay a higher share
beyond to what is paid as a tax, such as employees’ family or environmental support.
In conclusion, although I do not underestimate the importance of higher income of the
companies which is pivotal for their existence, but I believe they should priorities other
factors such as higher contribution to the society as a responsibility, in addition to what
they earn.
