M: What happens if I lose my credit card or have it stolen?

W: You should call this number immediately so you won’t be charged for
anything that you didn’t buy.

M: Okay. What is the interest rate on the charged balance that doesn’t get
paid off each month?
W: It’s 18% a month.

3. W:

______________, George. We can put less packaging around our
products and risk a few more breaks during transportation, or we can
move our production facility to Malaysia.

M: I guess the second option will certainly cost more in the short run, but
then save us a lot of money because of labor costs, right Sylvia?

W: Yes, but it will certainly include bad publicity for moving our factory.

M: That’s true, but we’ll give the report to Mr. Thompson and let him
make the final decision.

4. W: Excuse me. Since I am pregnant, I often have to get up and go to

the washroom, so I was wondering if you would mind exchanging seats.

M: No problem. I actually wanted the window seat so I could get a better

view of the countryside.
W: Great. Thanks a lot. By the way, do you know which car is the dining
car?
M: Yes, it’s at the back of the train.

5. M: Waitress, would it be possible to move to another table? This one

is very drafty because of that open window facing the street.

W: Certainly, sir. Would you like to have a table at the back of the
restaurant or would you prefer a booth along the far wall? Both places
have an excellent view of the mountain.

M: The table at the back might better for us. It seems like it is a bit quieter
back there and we have a lot of business to discuss. The more privacy, the
better.
W: Alright. You can head on back right now, and I’ll bring your drinks if
you’d like.

6. W: Hello. I’m calling to reserve three seats on the 6 a.m. flight

tomorrow morning from New York to London. I would prefer if they
were together.

M: Okay. Let me check that for you. I’m sorry, but I’m afraid that the first
flight tomorrow is fully booked. There are still some seat available on the
10AM from Atlantic Airways. That plane will arrive in London around 7
p.m. local time. Would that be suitable?

W: If that is my only choice then I guess I’ll have to accepted it. Do you
want my credit card number?
M: Yes, I’m going to need your credit card number and the names and
passport numbers of the three people who will be taking the flight.

7. W: Good evening, sir. My name is Janet and I’ll be your server

tonight. Would you like to hear the specials?

M: No, thanks. That won’t be necessary. I’m just going to have a drink for
now. I’m waiting for a friend who’s going to join me in about 30 minutes.
Could you bring me a glass of soda, please?

W: Certainly, sir. Also, if you give me your friend’s name I can bring him
to your table as soon as he arrives.
M: That would be wonderful. His name is Jerry Portier.
