Introduction.
GALAXY Hospital four sections bed is specially designed for a full and perfect positioning,
adjustment, treatment and handling of a patient with illness, injury, disability or deficiency during
the recovery phase, as well as for carrying out other secondary functions. For the purposes, at
certain times, two or more people will be required. GALAXY is a Hospital Bed manufactured in
epoxy-polyester coated steel structure and other high quality materials such as 10/11 zinc-
coated steel screws, hospital-type ABS housing and sections, etc. Moreover, these Hospital
Beds are provided with two electric actuators built-in two anodized aluminium and two electric
motors for the movement of the sections, furthermore it can come prepared with built-in patient
siderails for the operation and movement of the different sections and the rising and falling of
the bed, including remote control including functions to block and liberate the different actuators.
It is also provided with special rubber bumper wheels at all corners of the lying surface for the
better movement and correct positioning.
It has the possibility to be delivered with optional accessories, the bed has a solid frame to
allow and ensure the raising, tilting and positioning a patient up to a maximum weight of 230 kg.
The bed is for its use on hospital context. This product meets the requirements established
under the International and European Directives DIN EN 60601-2-38, DIN EN 60601-1-2, DIN
EN 60601-1-4 y DIN EN ISO 10993.

Before using this bed, it is important to be familiarized wih this manual.

All operations must be carried out as defined in this manual. The
manufacturer shall not be liable for any damage or jury caused by the
user´s failure to follow the instructions defined in this manual, as
regards the improper use of this bed, or by the use of it for other
purposes different from those it was designed.
Note:
The manufacturer reserves the right to modify this manual due to product
upgrades or technical changes. The information provided in this manual
may be slightly different with respect to the basic design of the product.

The bed is delivered fully assembled, ready to be used simply by connecting the power supply.
 Remove the packaging completely.
 Check that no components are missing according to the delivery note and if any damage

 Install the bed ends.
The easily-detachable head end and foot end must be placed in the corresponding sockets of
the upper frame.
As for the sliding head end, place the support bars in the corresponding sockets of the upper
frame.
 Attach the accessories.
 To install both the lifting pole and the I.V.pole:
Place the accessory in one of the sockets at the four corners of the upper
frame.
 Test all functions:

 Braking system.
 Fowler position (adjustment of both the back and the upper/lower leg
section).
 Height adjustment of the lying surface.
 Trendelemburg and reverse Trendelemburg positions.
 Remove the packaging respecting the environment.

Accessories

These accessories are optional and they must be specified

separately on your purchase order.

Lifting pole: removable, to be plugged in suitable

sockets at both sides of the head end, provided with
plastic triangle, adjustable in height.

I.V.Pole: adjustable and removable. 18/8 stainless steel

frame. Two or four hooks. Adjustable in height. It can be
placed at all corners of the bed.

Urine bag holder: Stainless steel frame.

Urine bottle holder: Stainless steel frame.

Document holder: with coupling device for bed ends.

Modular Balkan beam: stainless steel frame with

guides for positioning. It has been designed for
fixing slings, ropes, ballats, I.V. Pole and a lifting
pole all over the full length of the bed. The bed end
is provided with a height-adjustable, swing- down
shelf, for a better access to small places
(measurements vary depending on the model).

Safe working load capacity

The safe working load capacity of the hospital bed is +/-230 kg. The load is distributed
depending on the position of the bed (either flat or fowler position). The patient weight should
never be more than 150 kg for beds with scissor system.

Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of the bed on any account,
for the patient and user safety. If necessary, ask the manufacturer
beforehand.

FUNCTIONS OF THE BED
The hospital bed models perform the following movements:
 Height adjustment of upper frame.
 Tilt adjustment of back section.
 Tilt adjustment of both upper ad lower leg sections.
 Adjustment of Trendelemburg and Antitrendelemburg positions.
All these functions are executed thanks to two linear actuators.

CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM WITH STEERING MECHANISM

Safety system: floor –fixing system
Before transferring the bed, check previously the position of the levers on the castors: two
symmetrical levers, one at each end of the lower frame, under footboard.

A –Steering mechanism: put your foot on the left or inner side of the lever (green
colour) and push it down until it remains fixed in its new position (titled to the left).
One of the front castors, meaning those closer to the back section, remains fixed
in the longitudinal direction of the bed for an easier transfer of the same, by
pushing it from the foot end. The steering feature is activated.
B –Neutral position: in order to place the lever in its neutral, horizontal position,
press the corresponding side of it, either the left one (green) or the right one
(red). In this way, every castor moves freely, which allows transferring the bed in
all directions.
C –Central brake system: put your foot on the right or outer side of the lever (red
colour) and push it down until it remains fixed in its new position (titled to the
right). All four castors remain fixed and the bed is ready for hospital use.
Check that the central brake system is activated both when the bed stands by
and during the installation and disassembling processes.
SIDE RAIL SAFETY SYSTEM
LOWERING THE ABS SIDE RAILS
The side rails are sliding and provided with a quick-and-easy – to-use safety locking
system.

 To release the side rails first you should press inside 

this will break off the security system  then push the side rail
towards the right side.

 To raise the side rail, hold it and raise it till you hear a
“click” which will confirm the side rail is in its correct position.

Before and while folding up or down the side rails, check that there are
no objects which could impede the movement. Be careful not to get your
hands or fingers caught in the intermediate rails.
Before transferring the bed through a narrow door, fold down/tuck-away
its side rails in order to avoid damages.
LARGE SIDE RAIL LOWERING

1. Grab the side rail by the handle (see the picture)

2. To release the large side rails, pull up the red lever
3. Pull down the side rail until it reaches its lowest position.
4. To lock the side rail again, pull it up.

HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM OF THE UPPER FRAME OF THE BED

The height of the bed may be adjusted by means of scissor system, consisting on minimum
height of 44 cm. And maximum of 84 cm. operated by the different handsets.
Before carrying out these operations, check that there are no objects on
and under the lower frame which could impede the movement.
Neither the sections nor the bed must bear more load than the maximum
load previously indicated.

TRENDELEMBURG AND REVERSE TRENDELEMBURG POSITIONS

These positions are adjusted by the two linear actuators. The range of Trendelemburg
should be of 16º, Antitrendelemburg 16º. Operated by the handset pressing the button till
it reaches the desired position.
Before carrying out these operations, check that there are no objects
under the frame, which could impede the movement when tilting the bed.
The bed must never bear more load than maximum load previously
indicated.
TILT SYSTEM OF THE BACK SECTION
The angle of the auto-retractable back section (designed for preventing lumbar lesions,
decubitus ulcers and bedsores) to the upper frame, can be adjusted by means of a lineal
actuator within the range previously defined. In order to adjust the tilt angle of the back section,
press the corresponding button until reaching the desired position.
Be careful not to get your hands or fingers caught while carrying out
these operations. Check that there are no objects on and under the back
section which could impede this operation.

EMERGENCY DROPPING SYSTEM

The bed includes a manual mechanism to release the backrest in case of emergency (power
failure, etc.). There is a bilateral red lever placed in the upper section of the backrest which
allows the medical staff to drop the backrest manually.
Pull the lever, this will unlock the motor and the backrest should descend softly until the bed
reaches the horizontal position.

DIFFERENT CONTROL HANDSETS
BUILT-IN PATIENT CONTROLS.

The bed can be purchased with integrated control panel in

the siderails designed to carry adjust the height (3) of the
bed and the angle of the backrest (2) and leg section (1)
independently or simultaneously (4) just pressing the
membrane to the desired option. These control handsets
includes two preprogrammed positions: Cardiac Chair position (6) and Cero Position
(5) which allows the patient an easier exit of the bed.
NURSERY CONTROL PANEL

The Assistant Control Panel is a compact device for interrupting the connection
between the handset and the power source, has an IP 66 in grey colour, easy to fit. This
handset, as well as the patient manual one, is included with every electric bed as
standard equipment.
CONTROL PEDAL. The bed can be purchased optionally with pedal
controls situated on both sides of the bed.
They allow the medical staff to adjust the
height of the bed without using their hands.
PATIENT HANDSET
It allows the patient to adjust the height (3) of the bed,

the angle of the backrest (2) and leg section (1) independently or simultaneously (4)
just pressing the adequate button until the bed is reaches the desired option. This
control handse includes two preprogrammed positions: Cardiac Chair position (5) and
Cero Position (6).

SATELLITE CONTROL

LENGTH EXTENSION SYSTEM OF THE FRAME

The bed can be equipped with a system for manually extending the upper frame, approximately,
up to 15 cm. This system allows using different length mattresses, as the foot end holds the
mattress without the need for extra accessories. The length extension of the upper frame can be
adjusted by means of telescopic guides and fixing points at both sides of the frame.

Both for extending and retracting this part manually release the fixing pins. Pull the pins down
and twist them in order to extend or retract the same. Once reached the desired position, twist
the fixing pins for locking the length extension system.

IDENTIFICATION LABEL
All the beds are identified by means of a label placed on the lower frame, under the ABS
housing. When you contact the manufacturer or distributor (claims, technical service, orders),
provide them with the data included in the identification label:

CLEANING ACTIVITIES AND INFECTION CONTROL

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE CLEANING
 Do not use basic or acid chemical products out of the optimal pH value range: 6-8.
 Do not use abrasive cleaning material such as scourers, etc.
 Do not use caustic or corrosive substances.
 Do not use chemical substances which may affect the structure of the bed (acetone,
toluene, gasoline, etc...).
 Use a damp cloth to clean the bed and be careful with its electric parts.
You can use standard cleaners and disinfectants in the concentrations required in medical
environments.
In order to choose the appropriate cleaner, ask the person in charge.

The manufacturer shall not be liable for the damages caused by the use
of inappropriate detergents or disinfectants.
DAILY CLEANING
We recommend you to clean every day all those parts of the bed exposed to the effects of
contamination, in particular, because of bare-hand contact and frequent use. Firstly, unplug
the power supply. Use a cloth with an appropriate cleaner or disinfectant to clean the sections
of the bed.
After each recovery period, it is essential to clean and disinfect the contaminated surfaces of
the bed.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION

Recommendations for storing of the bed:
 Remove the accessories.
 Pack the bed and its accessories or protect them to prevent damages to their structure.
The storage conditions must be the same as those of the operative environment.

Before transporting this product, check that it is well wrapped in bubble plastic or
well packed in a carton box. In any case, do not place a heavy load on the product
or let it be affected by any factor which may cause its deterioration.
Maintenance
The cleaning and disinfecting activities may damage the parts of the bed if they are not correctly
executed. Every three months, it is important to apply silica gel on the following parts.
 The joints between the side rails and the
 Plastic sockets for head end and bed end
 Sockets for accessories (lifting pole, I.V. Pole, etc...).
 The joints of the height and section adjustment mechanism. Besides, it is important to
check the floor-locking mechanism and the length extension.
After a period of twenty-four (24) months, the user must ask for
preventive maintenance for the examination table to the manufacturer or
the service authorized by the company. The responsible for maintenance
will provide a list of the checks undertaken.

In the event of a major defect, do not use the bed but contact the
manufacturer or distributor immediately.

DISPOSAL
The bed is composed of metallic and plastic parts.

The disposal of the bed must be carried out by a specialized company.

GUARANTEE AND SERVICE

The manufacturer or the authorized service grants a guarantee which covers all their products
for a period of two (2) years from the date of purchase.
During said guarantee period, any defect affecting the operation of the equipment due to faulty
manufacture will be replaced free of charge. This guarantee covers the free replacement or
repair of defective parts.
The manufacturer reserves the right to revise the product before repairing it in order to determine
the nature and cause of the defect and whether it is covered by the guarantee.
This company shall not be liable for any damage or loss caused by the period during which the
bed is out of service.

DURATION
The guarantee period for all our products is two (2) years from the date of purchase. An original
purchase invoice showing its exact date of issue must be submitted. No guarantee extension will
be granted, under any circumstances, after the replacement of any part in accordance with the
guarantee terms.
EXCLUSIONS
The guarantee does not cover the installation, start-up, cleaning, replacement or supply
of any type of spare accessories. Moreover, this guarantee does not cover any damages
caused by an Act of God or as a result of the following: improper installation, improper
use, improper handling by technical assistance experts not expressly authorised by this
company, proven miss use, bumps, drops, exposure to degradable environments,
smoke, fire, neglect, improper maintenance and, in general, any external cause to the
product itself. This guarantee covers neither the travel expenses nor the shipping costs.
The manufacturer shall not be liable for any damage, injury of loss caused by misuse of
the product.
