Definition

Developing Managerial Effectiveness- The challenge of developing the relevant skills such as time
management, prioritization, strategic thinking, decision-making, and getting up to speed with the job
to be more effective at work.

Scenario

You are a recent college graduate entering the workforce as an after-school program coordinator. The
academic year starts in 2 weeks and you have not had time to prioritize your task to prepare for the
upcoming year. You have not visited the site yet, agendas still need to be made, trainings with staff still
need to be done, meeting with your new site director has not happened yet. You have a staff of 5
counselors for your location who have only been with the program for a few weeks and are not familiar
with the procedures and processes that need to be accomplished. When looking at developing
managerial effectiveness, what are you going to do?
