Direction: Create a Concept map to explain the following concepts below. Your answers will be compiled in

Examination, Quizzes and Examinations. Further, an Oral Examination and Quiz will be done on April 23,

1. Explain the functions of the thyroid gland in our body, together with the functions of the following
hormones:
- Thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3):
- Thyrocalcitonin (calcitonin)
2. Explain the functions of the parathyroid gland in our body, together with the functions of the
following hormones:
- parathyroid hormone (PTH)
3. Explain the pathophysiology, with emphasis to the sign & symptoms of the following conditions:
- Hyperthyroidism
- Hypothyroidism
- Myxedema Coma
- Thyroid Storm/Thyrotoxicosis
- Myxedema Coma
- Hyperparathyroidism
- Hypoparathyroidism
- Kidney stone secondary to Hypercalcemia due to Hyperparathyroidism
- Pathologic Fracture secondary to Hypocalcemia due to Hypoparathyroidism
- neuromuscular hyperexcitability secondary to Hypocalcemia due to Hypoparathyroidism
4. Analyze and assign top 2 Nursing Diagnoses, with corresponding priority Nursing Interventions for
the abovementioned conditions in item number 3.
