Dignified men make difficult choices

It comes a time when we all need to make difficult choices in our lives. It is said that the
consequences of the future are the results of our own actions and decisions we make in the
present. So we must always make the best decision and assume our actions.

About a couple of years ago, I was sitting down a tree in a park, when suddenly my best
friend came to me and said: -Man, I need your help. When I saw him, I automatically realized
that he was horrified, and that something awful had happened. So, I thought to myself: -Okay …
here we go again. Then, I asked him what happened and he answered: -I did something wrong
and I’m regretted, but I don’t know how to fix it.
He had accidentally betrayed his girlfriend with his girlfriend’s younger sister. When he
told me what happened, I looked into his worried face and I could not hold myself, so I started to
laugh, and I told him: -Man I was never good with my relationships, but this time overcame me.
At the onset, I thought he was Just worried and being dramatic. However, when I asked
him what was the real problem, he told me the whole story and then said: -I been always honest
and loyal to her. However, last night she asked me if I ever betrayed her, and I said no. Moreover
I said I would never betrayal her because I loved her. Then I felt so sad and miserable for not
telling her the truth.
Actually, he was regretted with deep sadness, and it was not his fault at all. His
girlfriend’s sister put some drugs on his drink and slept with him.
After that he told me the whole story, he asked if either he should keep lying to save the
relationship, or be honest and tell the truth to his girlfriend. So I told him a very known story. I
asked: -Do you know the story of George Washington? He replied yes, I know this story. But
what do it has to do with me? So I answered: -George was a good person with integrity and
honesty. When he cut the tree, and his father found out, he knew that there would be
consequences. His father was furious and angry. However, George assumed his acts telling the
truth to his father, and received the punishment. Later, George's father realized how good his son
was: A little child, not a liar but a honest and sincere person. So his father forgave him and
everything ended up fine.
Finally, after I finished to tell him this story he realized how his situation and George
story was linked, so he decided to tell the truth to his girlfriend. My friend was a good person as
George was. He was loyal and honest, as George was sincere and honest too. Furthermore, they
were in the same situation: Lie to save their skin or be honest and sincere to their beloved ones.
Summarizing, this is a story showing that sometimes life put people in front of difficult
dilemmas, where we have to make hard choices. However, we must always do the best choice
according to who we are and according to our personality. And that telling the truth is always the
wisest choice to make.
