Music is an integral part of developing students’ minds, bodies, and
abilities, and so I have developed a budget that reflects the importance of
this aspect and that keeps in mind the needs of this developing program.

In the coming year, I am looking to help bring back this ensemble to

normalcy while beginning our search for greatness in the musical realm. In
those efforts, I have included items that will help us find success in our fall,
winter, and spring concerts, as well as items that will help us become
figures of the community through community events like parades and
football games.
As you know, the recent ESSER Act (Elementary and Secondary
School Emergency Relief) is a landmark program that has set aside
126 billion dollars for education needs associated with the pandemic,
the bulk of which is being allocated to the district and school level.
These funds are being allocated to the district as we speak.

I am not sure what structure or decision-making process our district will use
to distribute these funds, but I would like to be involved in the process. As
you know, the pandemic has significantly and adversely affected our music
program's students, and these funds could help mitigate the damage.

The attached page presents the budget for the following year. I fully expect
for all of these needs to not be met, which is why I have highlighted the
urgent needs red, moderate needs yellow, and “may-needs” green.

I sincerely do hope that the music program at King City High School grows
year by year, and becomes a staple in the community. Arts education is vital
in the growth of the souls of its patrons. With this budget, the program can
continue to grow and improve, providing musical opportunities while giving
them a quality education.

Sincerely,
Carlos Vasquez
