The central computing facility of BITS, Pilani, referred to as the IPC (Information Processing
Centre) is responsible for designing, implementing and managing the Computing,
Networking and Data Security / Authentication infrastructure for the Pilani campus.

IPC manages a large Server room which hosts Core Switching & Routing, Firewall,
Authentication devices. It has High performance Computing facility (HPC) with 8 Nodes. It
has 19 Servers, for various applications like SMP, DHCP, DNS, SQL, AAA. It also hosts a
Storage Server for storing and streaming Classroom lectures.

Fibre leased lines from different IPS’s providing upto 4 Gbps of Internet bandwidth is
terminated at IPC Server room. Server room hosts Security devices like Sophos Firewall and
Pulse Secure, providing Data security, Authentication and VPN services.

The Servers are on both Windows and Linux platforms and also provides access to
Compilers, developmental tools for Staff and Students.

IPC manages 7 Labs as Central computing facility, for all Students of different Engineering
branches and this facility is open from 8AM till Midnight, throughout the Year.
 
IPC technical support team, which manages the Networking and Computing facilities across
the campus, makes use of an Online portal to receive and manage the issues.
