As a recommendation from the senior management, the ERP team now implementing single sign-on
functionality in the ERP system. Given the same, all users (students, staff & faculty) will use their Google
id & password to login to ERP also. The ERP user Id & password are no more valid. From this
functionality, it is imperative that anyone who has access to a google account will also have access to the
respective ERP account (with the same BITS email ID.  ERP team observed that some of the users have
very weak passwords in Google account. 

At the outset, you need to understand that G-suit security is important as we are seeing many fake email
& phishing attacks these days. Users should understand & comply with the security requirements as there
is no choice when it is security.

Here is the approved password policy for your reference.

         Passwords must not contain the user’s account name or parts of the user’s full name that
exceed two consecutive characters
         Be at least eight characters in length
         Contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
o    English uppercase characters (A through Z)
o    English lowercase characters (a through z)
o    Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
o    Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)

We will be enforcing the password policy on Monday, 30th August 2021. Please find the attached user
manual for “how to change the password and add a recovery phone number”. Recovery phone number
or email address helps you reset your password in case you forget your password, someone else is using
your account or you are locked out of your account for another reason.
