The Low Cost Way To Quickly & Easily
Make Your Own "Amazingly Realistic" Model Buildings
These full color scale model plans will add amazing realism to a diorama or railroading scene, and yet
they are very inexpensive and easy to construct. Simply download to your computer (they're in easy-to-
use PDF file format); print them out (on A4 or letter paper), glue on to some cardstock (old cereal boxes
are perfect), corflute, or foam board; fold and glue together. They're fun to build and are pre-weathered
to photo-realistic standards (no painting required).
The website has step-by-step tutorials on the HOME PAGE for making both 3D and background struc-
tures as well as several helpful video at https://www.modelbuildings.org/videos-ideas
The ModelBuildings.org website has a wide selection of unique international designs suitable for a range
of eras and geographical locations.
Many designs can be constructed as 3D models (with 4 sides and a roof), whilst others are designed as
space-saving “low relief” buildings suitable for positioning against backdrops to make the scene appear
more realistic and appear to stretch into the distance.
These plans are very versatile and you can use a variety of construction methods and add extra internal
support such as foam board, corflute, or card if you want.

Submit your model railroading questions for possible publication on the Model Train Help Blog
(around 10,000 readers weekly). The link to submit a question is in the right hand column on the Blog.
Important tips to increase the likelihood of having your question published - Add plenty of supporting
details to any question you submit (e.g. scale, solutions you have already tried etc.). The clearest and
best thought-out questions usually get the best answers. Also, check your spelling and punctuation as
all questions need to be approved by the Blog Moderator prior to publication. Standards are high.
Questions approved by the Blog Moderator are normally published within a week (sometimes within a
day or two). Click one of the “Ask A Question” links on the Blog.
