POST COVID-19
EFFECTS
 DYSPHAGIA

1. Dysphagia - usually caused by another

health condition or some forms of supportive
care - is a swallowing disorder, that causes
dysfunctions of the pharynx, larynx, or upper
esophageal sphincter

2. A study, conducted at the intensive care unit (ICU) of
a tertiary care academic public hospital, highlighted
the link between dysphagia that arises due to
intubation of COVID-19 patients and the possibility of
not getting back to pre-intubation swallowing levels
3. 30% of those who were screened positive
for dysphagia did not return to normal
swallowing function level
 FATIGUE

1. Fatigue is very common with covid patients

and it can be experienced long after the
patients have recovered and is more
prevalent in females and elderly people

2. It was found that the elderly individuals were more

prone to presenting fatigue as a symptom in
comparison to younger people. Females were also
more likely to show fatigue as a symptom compared
to males

on 30 male patients with Covid-19 in the age
range 18-60, a lower percent of sperm was
observed in the patients post-COVID

PSYCHOLOGICAL
EFFECTS

psychological problems such as post-
traumatic stress disorder, psychological
distress, depression and anxiety

prevalence of emergent psychiatric sequelae
(PTSD, depression anxiety, OCD, and insomnia),
with 55% of the people in studies done
presenting a pathological score for at least one
disorder
AUTOIMMUNE HAEMOLYTIC ANAEMIA

long and rare effect or complication during and
post COVID-19. AIHA “secondary” to COVID has
been indicated by a “raised lactate
dehydrogenase (LDH), low haptoglobin and
positive anti-C3d
