• How long have you lived in the home you live in now? Has your family moved around a lot?
When I was a child I growed up in Lima. My family used to move home often. This was because
of the work of my father. Our neighbours used to move too, so the moving was never a big
problem for us after all. But we have been in the Piura for 80 years. There are five people in my
family: me, my parents, my brother and my grandmother live in Piura.
• Do you have family reunions? How often? What is the largest family reunion you’ve been to?
Family reunions are the happiest thing for me. There is an annual reunion for the descendants
of my great-great-grandparents. They had 10 children who produced children and so on.
There is a Facebook group that was created a couple years ago to help share information
about our ancestors as well as reunion planning.
My great-great-grandparents easily have several hundred living descendants but many don’t
live in the area where the reunion is held. This reunion has been happening every year since
before I was born. In fact, I don’t know when it started.
I have an uncle who lives abroad, specifically in Canda, he always talks to my family to catch up
on the phone or video call.
• Are you interested in your family’s history? Have you ever made a family tree?
Yes, we have a tree but it is several hundred pages long and constantly updated by a first
cousin of my father.
• Do you take lots of photos of your family? Who is the family photographer’?
Over the years, I have been the designated photographer for family reunions. I come from a
large family where taking photos of our gang in never a simple task!
Back to my memory. When I was 5–6 or so, I enjoyed my grandfather more, we played cards,
went to the beach , get ice cream, he was fun. Unfortunately, I lost my last grandparent in
2006 when I was 9
Well, I've always like the idea of having a big family so I think that having a big family is a really
good thing. I come from a small family. I only have one brother, so if I could afford it, I think I
would really like to have a big family When I get older.
• Think of three members of your family. What are they doing right now?
My brothers, cousins and my father have many things in common. We enjoy swimming,
fishing, and board games.
• Are you and your mother alike? Or are you more similar to your father?
I look a lot like him. I look so much like him that when he answers his phone, people can't tell
the difference.
