The goal of the time capsule project was to showcase a crucial part of your last year through a
medium you choose. I chose to explore perseverance during the pandemic from a student athlete’s
perspective, in order to make it more personal to me. I chose the medium of a video, since I enjoyed film
making the most this year. I explored the progression of me as a player in volleyball, and how I felt in
relation to COVID throughout the year.
I interviewed my volleyball teammates to get their perspectives following the story arc of when
we first shut down due to COVID to now. I used critical thinking to determine the format of the video,
and I spent a long time editing the video. I also filmed practices and searched for footage of games and
highlights in film.
Through a video, the audience could relate to the people in the project because they can read
facial expressions and natural sentences. This can make the audience feel closer to the people in
the documentary, pushing the message of the documentary across further.
