ABSTRACT

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing the traditional boundaries regarding female education in rural
areas. It is normally believed that literacy improves the Scio-Economic Conditions of the
households but specifically literate mothers contribute more to take care of the children
education and health.

In Pakistan, more precisely in rural areas, work participation rate of males dominates over
females in activities recognized to be economically productive. Thereby, these factors affect
women participation and the challenges them to face un-empowerment In order to really bring
women empowerment in the Pakistan especially in rural areas, we need to understand and
eliminate the main cause of the ill practices against women which are male-controlled and male
dominated system of the society. We need to be open- minded and change the old mindset
against women together with the constitutional and other provisions making women powerful so
that they can take their own decisions regarding their lives and well-being in family and society.
Empowerment of women should be in all regards i.e. social empowerment, health empowerment,
economic empowerment, political empowerment and last but not the least legal empowerment.

Women empowerment is the main topic of this study and economy can only be improved when
both husband and wife work together rather than one being house wife while other taking all
responsibilities. It will not only affect the living standard but also enable them to participate in
improving the well being of their families as well as the entire society.

Government and NGOs must pay attention to women empowerment programs especially in rural
areas so that the un-empowered class can improve their lives in rural areas. Expenditure on
women empowerment should be increased by the Govt, so that every woman can get equal
opportunities to improve her own as well as her family’s living standard. Women empowerment
itself is an important factor to reduce poverty in the country, so, for this purpose establishment of
empowerment trainings and highly qualified trainers are very important.
